Regardless of what any bill might SAY, I seriously doubt anyone'll ever be able to buy a gun from a licensed dealer without anything less than a 4473, and a NICS call!

I suspect, what ya'll may be reading ... 'er how it might otherwise end up (once they realize what they've done) ... is, ya won't need a 4473/NICS fer a non-dealer sale, only?!

Background Checks Compromise

Yah, I don't see them giving away something like the 4473, or the NICS check.
You got to keep in mind who does a lot of the reporting when it comes to stuff like assault weapons and high capacity bullet clips.

Has anyone seen the language of the actual bill and\or a summary of its provisions from someone we can trust ? I have not seen it , we just the media reporting on its contents , and we all know how much we can trust the impartial media.. ..

Alan Korwin makes this point clearly:

NOTE: Two senators announced today (April 10, 2013) they have reached a "compromise" on so-called "universal background checks." This is a code word for universal gun registration.

A press announcement and the wording of a long new gun law are not the same thing. DO NOT BELIEVE any news media that treat them as the same.

I will read the bill when it is released. It has NOT been released. NO ONE knows what it says. "News" reports are blowing smoke at you. They have no idea what's in the bill, drafted in secret.

That's a pretty broad question.

In it's current form? Who knows.

SOME part of it? probably. How, what, when, where and why? Who knows.

I doubt any legislation has ever passed which is a first draft. Possible? Sure. Probable? Unlikely. Many politicians are lawyers, so they are going to nitpick, change, tweak, modify, debate, fillibuster, bribe, conjole, etc ad infinitum, and even then, it won't be EXACTLY what they want, when they want it, how they want it, or why they want it.

I know the above is pretty much a "non-answer", but it's an honest one.

GOA is not happy.

Senator Toomey Betrays Gun Owners

...Incidentally, the Toomey-Manchin-Schumer “national registry” language is full of holes. There will be a national gun registry as a result of this sell-out.

I trust GOA more than any weasel politician.
I will never apologize for being an American.

Let me rephrase. How likely is it that a gun bill of any kind passes in MN this session? I realize there are bills supported by the NRA and others however I am firmly in the camp that any gun bill that passes is a bad thing for us period. So what are thoughts on the likely hood of anything happening?

I agree that nothing would be great. However, I suspect we will get something at the state and national level.

The question is how bad will it be? Answer, look at who we elect to office in this state and nationally.

SAF has suggested we background check all elected officials. I am for that and also doing drug and mental health screenings. Could Mark Dayton pass a mental health check?

So frustrating to hear the left bitch about why they need more tools to prevent crime and violence when they openly refuse to even look at the tools they already have (which were also passed into law at their insistance). Why can we not hammer that point in until it bleeds?

It did not pass the Senate. It passed a procedure that allows them to debate on it. It still has to come up for a vote.

Those republicans didn't vote for the bill. They voted to allow them to vote on it.

Yep Now the horse and pony show starts for the peasants(That's us)
They will put on some theater for us and they will make back room deals.
Again the republicans will cave and they will give us more gun control . The republicans who vote for it will be from safe districts or not up for election
This is a old script . This is why I don't believe in the republican party and politicians in general!

This kinda of stuff is why the republicans are losing conservative voters. McCain and Lindsy can piss off
