Another thing to keep in mind. If you ever want to try 3-gun, any type of optic or comp will automatically put you in open class. Just about anything else goes.

Want to build g34 gen4 race gun

Postby RJWesleyIII on Tue Apr 16, 2013 2:00 pm

Sweet gun usnret! Thanks for all the replies guys, I appreciate it. I think I will stick to open sites for now. Although I just did a FFIII on my 22/45 lite and love it!

I'll do some reading on the rules and figure out what mods to do. Maybe start with sites and a mag well and do some polishing on my trigger components.

I think 3 gun would be a blast!

There's still other limiting factors depending on the match and rules being followed. Caliber, PF, comps and mag length to name a few.

OP, if you plan on shooting USPSA a magwell will put you in Limited.. as will a bunch of other mods. Take some time and search Brian Enos.

Although you can bevel the stock mag well 1/16th and be Production legal - at least according to our instructor the other weekend. I'm trying to talk myself into taking a file to my CZ, but so far I've chickened out..

This was the rule he was referring to. Appendix D4 22.4
Magwell opening
The longitudinal (front-to-back) dimension of the opening may be more than 1/4” greater than the cor- responding dimension of a magazine. External flaring remains PROHIBITED.

Want to build g34 gen4 race gun

So back to the warren tac sites. Does anyone have the competition rear site with a fiber optic front? I'm trying to figure out if I need the .185, .215, or the .245 front site.

I have a 10-8 rear and a Dawson FO front on my 34. The height of the rear sight will dictate the height of the front, which the rear usually lists.

Have any of you guys undercut your trigger guard? The 2nd knuckle on the middle finger of my shooting hand rubs really hard on the guard. I try and get a my hand up high to help control recoil but the trigger guard just hits that knuckle.

The STI I'm having built has a double undercut trigger guard. Holding the frame without the rest of the gun I really like the feel of it. Hopefully I'll like it just as much once everything gets pieced together.
