The way the GC growd has used her in recent months is reprehensible. The poor woman is brain damaged. She has to rehearse short speeches for days. She sits there and nods while her husband answers questions directed to her. I give both of them massive props (her for keepin' on, and him for demonstrating what the vows really mean), but their presence on the political scene is sad, pathetic and, frankly, abusive. Watch the parts of this interview that involve her.

I would agree with the Pony on this one if Giffords had not exploited her victimhood in the battle to infringe on our rights.
If she were in the background and had not made herself a combatant it would be different. So just say no to righteous indignation.

And to say she is being "used" is an insult to her husband. He is not some weak willie who couldn't defend her.

I am insulting him. He's an elitist. I respect him for his commitment to his marriage. However, the way he has PARTICIPATED in using Gabby (in ways she clearly doesn't understand - again, watch a few vids of her since the shooting) is reprehensible.

If he's smart (and I'd guess he is), there will come a time in his life... probably a quiet moment when he can be alone with his thoughts and his conscience... when he will realize what he did to her (this public charade). This realization will cause him pain and anguish. He might struggle with how and where to find forgiveness, as she won't even be able to fathom why he seeks it.
