It's worth noting that most of those provisions failed the 60 votes required to stop a filibuster. Only 50 votes is required to 'pass' a bill. This is a notable distinction for several reasons:

1) Several items had majority support. Namely, everything except weapons/magazine bans. So, senator wise, expanding background checks in some form is a majority opinion. Banning guns or magazines is not.

2)These items could have passed were it not for the senate filibuster. The same filibuster that is routinely threatened to be removed by both sides of the political aisle. Keep that in mind when your team is in charge, and the other guys are being obstructionist. (regardless of which team you're on, this will happen)

When Obama in whining about the Senate not voting for the people, he should take a long look at Klobuchar and Franken. Both of them voted on party lines and NOT for the people. So apparently it's ok when they vote his way, but the opposing side should have no argument. When does the impeachment process start?

You know it gets old every time someone is sarcastic? Images like this go right along with what I'm saying in my "name calling" thread. No matter what it is....the F word, images like this one, sarcasm, it all gets old and loses an effectiveness that it has due to overuse. It becomes boring, mundane, cliche', and well,.....sad.

Now I'm not going to constantly bring up that thread I made; I've said what I needed to in it, so I won't repeat it all here.... my point of this post is: For the love of [insert favorite deity or whatever here], can we have ONE thread in the Political forum without the name calling, images, mocking, etc?

Also, instead of HJing ourselves in how we "won" and mocking other people, how about we do something constructive? What can we do to get a bill in front of the MN Senate and House that is like the one Paymar refused to hear? HF1325, I believe it was?) What can we do to strengthen the 2A rights? (both in MN and across the country). Let's do something productive and positive vs. being negative and the like.

How about we put together an outing where we take new people shooting, let them try an assortment of firearms, different calibers and configurations?

I get it that we all want to vent, but let's do it in a healthy way.

Usually I would agree, but in Obama's case, he is THE biggest threat to gun ownership that most of us have ever seen in our adult lives. It's about damn time the pompous king is mocked and ridiculed. The likes of him will not change regardless of if I have a little celebration.

I think the biggest threat to gun ownership is some gun owners, not Obama.

Why?

- Some hunters don't understand the need for an AR-15, PTC, pistols, etc.
- Some gun owners who CC don't see the need for OC and are only in favor of it because it protects their CC.
- The constant pis*ing contests, division within the community, lack of unity, and more.

A lot of "us" are our own worst enemy.

How can we find out how our wonderful senators voted on these bills?

Do you really have any question how our third rate comedian and that twit what's her name voted, if so you must really be naïve! Of Course they voted with King obummer!

GREAT NEWS, I feel better now. Looks like the more they want to do, the less likely of passage.
I do wish the permit reciprocity would have passed but all fail is better than all pass.
Overall, Good News.

My primary concern with passing the national reciprocity legislation is that it would open the door for a national database ( REGISTRATION ) of all carry permit owners in order to enable that legislation. Do you really want to give this power and information to the government in Washington?

I would much rather see expanded recognition of state permits between states. Iowa and Wisconsin does recognize Minnesota's permit but Minnesota still don't recognize their permits Why? The only reason that Minnesota does not recognize Iowa's permits is due to the fact that Iowa does not require a shooting test. Anyone who cannot pass the Minnesota shooting test probably should not be carrying a gun anyway personally I would rather a person becomes qualified in basic proficiency before they are granted a permit. JMHO! We have enough screwballs running around with guns now, if you look at how many people are killed and injured due to negligence during the firearm deer season.
