For cheap, fun, reactionary plinkin' nothing beats empty tin cans IMO. I loved shootin' 'em as a kid & still do. My kids love 'em too, and were ventilating a bunch just this afternoon. Then I shot one with an AR near the bottom and it flew straight up like a rocket about 30 feet and landed as a shredded, twisted hunk of metal. My kids thought that was the coolest thing ever and all they talked about for the rest of the day.

For a bigger "oooh" factor use full pop cans, full tomato sauce cans, etc. Empty gallon paint cans filled with water, the lid hammered on and shot with a .357 or bigger are awesome.

Years ago we also used to shoot in a huge, vacant gravel pit and play "golf" with .22's, golf balls and empty soup cans buried to the rim as "cups" ... now THAT was a challenge! For every one we managed to sink, about 200 went sailing into the distance never to be found. It was only a bit easier with baseballs and gallon paint cans.

Has anyone mentioned tannerite yet? I add a few gallon can of gas on top to spice it up. Just gotta have a remote location with recent rainfall, and it works out fine.

Most funnest targets

A can of shaving cream.
Rubber self healing targets, compare 9mm to 12 ga.
Fruits & vegetables
Old water bottles and milk jugs filled with colored water.

Rabbits. Little buggers won't stay out of my shrubs. I have come to the conclusion that when you kill 1 it just splits into 2 more.

I too have a love for killing these varmints. Living in Brooklyn Park makes it a bit more of an adventure but I have solved that conundrum by using a .22 target pistol loaded with subsonic ammo. Just enough distance and accuracy to reach out to my garden from behind my kitchen window. Curtains closed, window open 2 inches, aim, POP. I've had my wife sitting on the deck and with the wind blowing she can barely here the report. 15 minutes later or so a walk back to check on the garden nets a critter to be tossed into the trash.

Found that...

He plead it out....

And accepted the felonies....WTH?
Brian Childs, the man accused of detonating a massive explosion on his Welch property, pleaded guilty Thursday to two felonies in the case that drew national attention.

Childs, 32, pleaded guilty to possession of an explosive with destruction of property and possession of an explosive or blasting agent without a permit or license.

At one of our 50BMG shoots, we had a "Kitty Shoot".

Night before a guy found a stuffed cat at WalMart that looked almost like his Wife's favorite cat in his RV. He bought it, then later I saw him at grocery store buying flour.

After our normal competition for the day, and while scores were being processed, he walks out of his RV carrying the Wife's live Cat, walks up to shooting benches, puts his hat on table, and announces $5 per shot at the dam cat. Then he gets in Range Truck, heads down to 1100 yard berm, and proceeds to tie "that dam cat" to a post with baling wire. Several guys put $5 in hat and withdrew a tab with shooting order on it. About the time he gets back, his wife comes out of RV saying she can't find the Cat. He says that he knows where it is at, and pointed downrange and said "tied that dam cat" to a post. Told her to look thru scope to see cat, then told us to commence firing in proper firing order. She was screaming until Cat blew up in a cloud of white, then he walked over to truck to get her Cat out of CatBox in front seat. Said "one of these days we will shoot that dam cat of yours".

Kinda of twisted humor, BUT ..................... it was fun.

I did the tannerite inside a pumpkin thing last Halloween. We had a little party at a friend's in the country and got to shootin' stuff. I dropped a can inside a jack-o-lantern without telling anyone. We had three pumpkins lined up down range and were blasting away when, BOOM! Scared the crap out of everyone. Took me a half-hour to convince everyone there that it was a legal explosive. They all thought I had done something that was going to bring the FBI to the party.
