KO Indians "Upset" Over Pro-2A Billboard

Two Kolorado billboards in which images of Native Americans are used to make a gun rights argument are causing a stir with some residents who say the image is offensive and insensitive.

The billboards show three men dressed in traditional Native American attire and the words "Turn in your arms. The government will take care of you."

Greeley resident Kerri Salazar, who is of Native American descent, said she was livid when she learned about it. She said she doesn't have a problem with the gun rights message, but she's offended the Native American people were singled out, apparently without their consent.

This is what happens when you don't know your own history. These same people will go out and protest what happened on the "Trail of Tears".

Exactly. "How dare you not ask my permission to mention the fact that the federal government treated my ancestors like crap?!?" And I suppose to be thorough, I should tack on "...to make a political point" in there.

The upside is twofold:
1) No one actually has to ask her permission.
2) Colorado's Native American population is apparently not afflicted with the same unemployment and alcoholism issues that have historically stricken other reservations around the country. This leaves them free to get outraged over billboards that use Indians to make political points that they agree with.

Why wouldn't they go out and protest what happened on the "Trail of Tears"? I don't understand your comment about "people" who don't know their own history in regard to an event that was so hard on the Indian tribes of the American Southeast.

I'm confused about who 'They" are.

I was not aware that I could consult an Oracle who apparently speaks for all people of a certain category.

Their guns, and all other weapons were taken away and they were all herded onto reservations. There's a 2a type connection there if you look at it. Bitch about being used to show what happens when your arms are taken away by an oppressive government, then tomorrow bitch about the fact that you were stripped of your arms and herded onto a reservation. Whether they like, or not, it is a perfect example of what can happen, it's the truth, and it's history.

Most likely the answer closest to the truth.

I don't see any figments of imagination.
I wonder why no one has posted that gun confiscation will "never" happen here?

I guess she is from a different tribe than the one selling the T-shirts at the Pow-wow I went to last summer with this same message. Got a great t-shirt BTW.

And the white man gave them alcohol for their guns to placate them. Man, there's a lot of similarities here...
