California Goes for Broke on Gun Laws

Thursday afternoon, a group of California Senate Democrats rolled out a legislative package that would create what would likely be the tightest gun regulation system in the nation, ranging from sweeping prohibitions on semi-automatic rifles to restrictions on guns in the home. The proposal consists of ten points:

1. Ban all semi-automatic rifles that accept detachable magazines
2. Ban possession of high-capacity magazines.
3. Ban “bullet button” conversion kits.
4. Bans shotgun-rifle combinations.
5. Universal registration of all guns.
6. Background checks on ammunition.
7. Regulating gun loans.
8. Prevent prohibited individuals from living in homes with guns.
9. Cracking down on people who can’t own guns legally but do anyway.
10. Required safety training for handgun owners.

...aaaaaaaaand GO!
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.

Wow! I agree with a couple of these!

#6. I wouldn't want to buy ammunition that hadn't been checked. Gotta keep up the QC.

#7. Gun loans need to be regulated. . .The annual apr rates are way too high.

#9. Well Duh! Why wouldn't you want to make illegal gun ownership, illegal?

It's not the LAWS you necessarily have to worry about, it's how the laws are regulated.

One would hope this is a proposal only from a small group of moonbat leftists, but after reading the comments section... :o

With Kalifornia's gov't broke, it's good to see them worrying about banning the 22lr/ .410 over/ under assault weapon...nothing like priorities

Just went back and reread the article and realized it's dated Feb 8.

I'm guessing this was just the moonbats strutting around the barnyard and not a serious proposal.

If government was most effective, private industry wouldn't exist. Nuff said. ;)

So, for #9 their saying they need to pass a new law in order to get them to enforce a law that already exists? :rotf:

I believe that Obama signed an executive order instructing himself to nominate a new ATF head. Apparently, Democrats feel they can gain political points with their constituents by ordering themselves to do their jobs that they failed miserably at in the past.

Yep, just like the Feds. They say they don't have the time to pursue illegal applications and prosecute, then want a heftier law anyway.

The small group of moonbat leftists you refer to happen to occupy the majority of the seats in the state legislature, and with their supermajority in the senate, they are free to implement the liberal utopia they have been dreaming about for decades. Instead of focusing on the state's massive deficits and anti-business environment, they choose to waste taxpayer dollars in this manner.

California already has the toughest gun laws in the nation, yet leads the nation in murders by gun. Go figure
