80% Build Party

Postby driztan on Tue May 21, 2013 11:34 am

Hello All,

I am organizing an 80% build party hosted by JAKL Machine again. I currently have 10 extra 80%ers on order at $90.00 each. Same deal as last time $50.00 for machine rental per lowers and $15.00 for engraving per lower. ETA on shipping the lowers is for late June, but my rep. has stated it could be earlier. I am waiting for a more concrete answer before scheduling a final date for the party.

If you are interested please PM me with how many of the 80%ers you want, first come first serve. Also please include any dates you KNOW will NOT work for you around late June or July. Once I have a date I will let everyone know as soon as possible. I will be trying to find a Saturday that works, however I will not rule out Sunday as a possibility.

For those like myself that live in the cities we stayed at a nice, clean, cheap hotel in Pipestone last time. (10 minute drive from Jasper at most.)

If you work for a larger corporation like Sanford Medical you can save a couple dollars with their corporate discount. *cough* *cough*

When : TBD
Where: JAKL Machine, Jasper, MN http://www.jaklmachine.com/

Please PM me if you have any questions. Thank you all!

Is this legal ? Who does the actual machining, the new owner of the lower ?

I'd be all over it, but Jasper is pretty darn far when you need to hitch a ride from someone else.

80% builds are legal as long as the owner of the lower is the one to push the button on an automated process, even if another person sets it all up, or the one who does the machining. A jig will probably be provided for the latter case. Provided you have more than two brain cells to rub together, it will be square block in square hole levels of simplicity.

A big thumbs up for driztan for doing the legwork on this one! For any of you on the fence, ask around - I think you'll find that most everyone had a good time at the first one, even with the long drive. We have some area of improvements on our end, mainly having ALL the engraving created, approved and programmed before the party...........that alone will make things go faster and you can get in and out and back on the road much quicker.

If there are any questions I can answer, just let me know.

Thanks!

Hey All,

I have plenty of verbal commitments, but as I said before it is first come first serve by sending in your money for the cost of the 80%er. I still have a couple more from our group buy, PM with any questions!

While I understand you're out of lowers now, could a person bring their own 80% lower to complete? Also, is this build party just the machining portion, or are you also doing finishing (typical black anodizing)?

Also, would you run these in the future? How about an AK build party?

Thanks!
