The class started with a brief one hour classroom session that covered and overview of the course and some important things Rolf wanted to touch on. We then proceeded out to the range and began our instruction with empty chamber drills regarding draw stroke and the like. We had three students in the class and Rolf had a helper (great job Shawn!) so we received plenty of personal attention and we were able to move quickly through areas in which we all excelled but still get plenty of attention in areas we didn't. Rolf did a good job balancing teaching, shooting, and empty chamber drills to best teach us the concepts. We also did some drills regarding situational avoidance that I never would have thought to be included in a Defensive Handgun course, and while good for some light hearted humor amongst us, they were also very helpful in developing the mindset one should have while carrying a firearm.
Overall the course was very helpful and I accomplished all the personal goals I had hoped to achieve in the class. Rolf was very natural as an instructor and had a very strong presence, but also never missed a chance for a joke. I went through just under 300 rounds for the class and thought they were all very well spent. He didn't even have an disparaging remarks for me showing up with a 1911

I would recommend Rolf @ Penzel Training to anyone, he's a natural instructor and I feel offers a very good value for the money.
