Reinforced shelving...

Postby Rodentman on Mon Jul 01, 2013 7:02 pm

Sorry, I just couldn't stand the sagging of these shelves. Supposedly hold 500 pounds each. Yeah that would be like Sam and I standing on them. I don't think so.

Now with adding 1/2" plywood I think we're closer to 500 pounds. Wonder how many primers that would be?

what kind of supports are under the particle board? if its removable and it really was warped maybe the plywood would be better by itself?

This shows the original cheapo shelves. We left them in place and put the plywood on top since we would have had to disassemble the unit to get the other shelves out. It works fine now. Very sturdy.

After destroying one of my shelving units by overloading with projectiles and gunpowder, I trashed the metal and used the particle boards to double up the shelves similar to your idea. I also relocated certain components to heavier shelving units. 50BMG projectiles are placed close to ends near uprights to give best chance of survival.

 this is what I do as well - the middles of my shelves are pretty empty

Edited for correction: I do not have any 50BMG components  , but put the heavy stuff on the ends.
Did you just buy that beautiful firearm, or are you trying to sell that piece of crap?

I plugged data on The Rodentwoman into that site. Confirms what I suspected. There IS significant sag.

The Rodentwoman would shoot his beady little eyes out if he got a newer, firmer version...
