Taurus - The Judge

Does anyone have any experience with The Judge?
I've been eyeing them but not sure how they shoot and I've never come across one to try.
Your thoughts and experiences would be helpful.

My uncle has one and loves it. I know another individual that carries it strictly as a snake gun, loaded with 10 or 12 shot, when he is out west chasing prairie poodles. I does the job he bought it for very effectivly!

It's a litle top heavy just handling one at the shop, but it sure is a mean lookin' bugger!!

I saw a review on it--I think in the NRA mag a couple months ago. It was one of those reviews where the reviewer was choosing his words really carefully, trying to make sure that he sounded moderately positive for the manufacturer, but you could read between the lines. It is funny because after I read the article I thought to myself that this looked like a perfect gun for carrying for snakes out west. But according to the review, you wouldn't want to depend on its accuracy in the handgun (though he said it alot more positive sounding than that).

Dont Shoot Fiocchi Ammunition out of it. They Stick in the Cylinders.

My stepdad has one. He thinks it's the greatest thing since sliced cheese.

I shot it a few times with .45 and slugs, it's kinda nifty, but way too big for my liking.

When you try to get a gun to do more than one thing, you usually find it is, at best, mediocre at both.

I see it as a S&G gun (sh*** and giggles)....it is fun...it is a conversation maker....I like it.

the CCI shotshell loads for snake loads are just as effective as the 410 loads that the Judge uses, at the ranges you are wanting to kill snakes.


In my very limited use, (three snakes, two barn rats,) a .45 colt loaded with CCI is very effective at 2-3 paces.

I dunno bout the judge, but I love my SS Taurus 617 (7-shot .357 mag)!
