Which brands of rifle scope you'd like better, why?

Postby BinosMall on Mon Jul 08, 2013 9:34 pm

There are many brands of rifle scope, such as Bushnell, Leupold, Swarovski, Zeiss, Vortex, Aimporint, Barska and so on, which one you have ever bought or like, why?

1. Founded in 1907, Leupold’s success has been built on commitment to customers’ absolute satisfaction, and commitment to building the best optics for the shooting sports, general and wildlife observation, and the military and law enforcement communities. Leupold rifle scopes for their superb optics, dependability, ruggedness, and accuracy. For generations, shooters all over the world have respected the quality of the Leupold brand. With a Lifetime warranty, Leupold rifle scopes are built to serve you for the long haul.

”We solemnly promise never to let down on quality, the customer is entitled to a square deal.?”
- Markus Friedrich Fred Leupold

2. Kahles, since 1898 KAHLES has continuously been setting milestones in optical performance.

This pioneering spirit over generations has for more than a century been blazing new trails in scope design, durability and performance.

Today, closer to the edge of physics than ever before, KAHLES is still keeping with its old-established principles: To create optical instruments of highest quality standards for serious outdoor enthusiasts.

3. Bushnell Rifle Scopes feature all the precision and reliability that hunters demand, whether they're hunting large or small game in the middle of the day or at the low light hours of dusk and dawn. Bushnell riflescopes with options available for beginners who need to outfit their first rifle with quality optics and professionals who can hit the bullseye at 1000 yards.

4. Nikon rifle scopes will vastly improve the accuracy and range of your rifle with professional-grade optics. Because every hunter does things differently, Nikon builds rifle scopes for most types of hunting, including specialized models for muzzle loaders, handguns, shotguns, and even scopes with a special reticle for turkey hunters.

5. NcSTAR stand for New Century Star, which features coated optics for a bright and clear image, and a rugged design that will keep your riflescope safe, even in harsh conditions. Since their founding in 1997, scopes by NcStar have been reasonably priced while still providing quality optics. The enhanced value makes NcStar Rifle Scopes accessible by hunters and shooters on any budget.

6. Hensoldt manufactured the various Rifle Scopes below so you can better ignore distractions and concentrate on the task at hand and feel confident in your equipment. Our Hensoldt Rifle Scopes page enables you to navigate our astonishingly vast selection.

7. BSA Optics is managed by hunters who know how important it is to have a rifle scope that you can trust. BSA Optics offers bright, dependable hunting scopes to every type of hunter, from novice to seasoned pro, and still keeps them affordable.

8. Elcan Riflescopes are for the professional hunters in you. These digital riflescopes bring hunting to a new level and offer a new thrill to the sport.

9. Millett Rifle Scopes feature innovative designs by some of the best engineers in the gun sight industry. Millett was the company who developed the dual crimp system for installing rifle scopes, making installation faster and more secure. As a world leader of producing injection molded parts, Millett scopes feature better material and craftsmanship than most rifle scopes in their price range.

10. MINOX riflescopes are designed in Germany and assembled in the USA. Each riflescope is crafted from lightweight, incredibly tough aircraft-grade anodized aluminium and features standard one inch mono-tube construction for easy, low-profile mounting. High-tech glass elements from leading manufacturers, fully multi-coated lens elements, precise windage and elevation adjustments, up to 5 times magnification zoom ranges and Argon gas purging are further requirements needed for the uncompromising shooter.

11. Meopta is a global manufacturer of precision optics, specializing in the design, engineering and assembly of complex optical, opto-mechanical and opto-electronic systems. Meopta creates innovative, total solutions for the consumer, industrial and military markets.

12. Swarovski Optiks Riflescopes patented spring coil system provides heightened repeatability, so shooters can be confident that once they've sighted in their scope they won't need to adjust it again. The additional springs in their system allows for even high caliber firearms to be repeatable with a Swarovski Riflescope. In addition to their repeatable performance, the scopes also provide a great image because of the outstanding glass. This should come as no surprise, as Swarovski is world-renowned for their ability to work with glass and crystals.

I like Zeiss/ hensoldt.... glass is seems cleaner than Nikon and is very durable. On the scopes and binos used in the field in rain and sleet I have never had a Zeiss ger cloudy or fog ..... they perform better in low light than any other scopes I have seen or used...... I hunted in 10 below w/ the Nikon ar scope not great ..... I hunted coyotes at 15 below with the Zeiss no issues ... 200 meter at dawn and dust

I like my Leupold, Nikon and Burris scopes. But, there is just something special about mt Kahles scope. Every time I pull up the Kahles, I'm impressed with the with just how crisp and clear it is, none of my other scopes can compare.

It's easy to pay a lot of money and get a great optic, tons of great choices from great manufacturers that have been mentioned.

When you're looking for scopes that have a particularly high value proposition that are in reach of most hunters, my favorites include:

$230 or less (shipped):

Nikon Monarch UCC 3-9x40mm (usually BDC) - Dick's regularly puts these on sale for $199, great all purpose "lifetime" hunting optic with bright/clear glass that would not be out of place on almost any bolt action hunting rifle on the market.

Nikon Buckmasters Mildot 4.5-14 mildot/side focus - $220 at Natchez regularly, a step down from the Monarch in quality but it's surprisingly clear across the greater magnification range, side focus and mildot are great features for the price making it suitable for a budget tactical, rimfire or varmint build.

Bushnell Elite 3200 Tactical 10x mil-mil - $200 shipped at Midway, great fixed magnification no-frills tactical scope (mildot reticle with mil-mil adjustments & target turrets) with a lifetime warranty.

$130 or less (shipped):

Mueller APV 4-14, hard to beat for $130 shipped (Amazon) - German engineering, Japanese optics assembled in China to keep costs in line... one of my favorite all purpose rimfire or budget/recreational build optics when springing for the Nikon Buckmaster doesn't fit the budget, lifetime no-hassle warranty (call it a "budget boutique" brand, their small-ish optics company focuses on building high quality budget prices scopes and they do it well).

Nitrex (by Weaver) 3-9x42 for $99-$129 depending on reticle/finish at Natchez, 94% light transmission multi-coated glass, made in Japan with a lifetime warranty from Weaver... my personal favorite for a budget hunting scope, originally retailed for $300 but have been discontinued so availability is finite... often compared to the Weaver Grand Slam series in optical quality/characteristics, I've compared them side by with to the Nikon Monarch 3-9 UCC and actually swapped a few to save money on a couple of rifles where more expensive optics didn't make sense. Their $109 8x42 binocs are really nice as well and replaced some larger/heavier Nikon Action 10x50 glass I'd been using. Reviews of the Nitrex TR-1/2 line were generally favorable but I think the line was redundant in the bigger picture so ATK discontinued the line in favor of the Weaver Grand Slam/Super Grand Slam against which they compared.

Simmons Whitetail Classic 6.5-20x50mm - $129 at Midway all the time, probably the "best of the worst" when you compare low priced high magnification variable out there - the least clear of anything on the list above BUT the best glass in it's price category (compared to similar offerings from BSA, NCStar, Barska, Bushnell, etc..) particularly as you hit the higher end of the magnification range but for the price you get a ton of magnification, adjustable objective and mildot reticle.

It's hard to get crappy glass anymore. There are deals to be had, but you pretty much get what you pay for. That being said, I like the leupold, Sightron, Zeiss for consistent quality and price. Just picked up a meopta meostar, and I am very impressed with the optics, we'll see how it holds up to prolonged use.

Since I could only pick 1, I had to go with NC Star since I've heard they are the best value in optics.

Barska's are not on the list.....so there is no way they can be the bestest. My NCStars will eat your Barska's for breakfast. Someday I hope to work my way up to a BSA though.....from there the sky is the limit. When that day comes I will dominate the world of competitive rifle shooting. I pity the fool that thinks they will stand a chance against my BSA equipped H&R Handi Rifle chambered in .204 Ruger.
