In that case I vote for Mueller, just had one shipped from Florida in nothing but it's retail box wrapped in magazine pages with a couple wrapped around the scope inside.. that's it. Showed up today with most of the paper missing from the outside of the box, a huge hole in the bottom through the interior box and a gouge that looks like someone stabbed the outside objective lens bell with a flat head screwdriver.
Optics look clear (well, as much as any $200 scope looks at 25x magnification

), mechanical adjustments all check out and it survived the boiling water and freezer tests (after which the seller and I have worked out a final shooting test before I accept a significant refund - otherwise it goes back). I was tempted to just send it back but since I'd never seen a scope take this sort of abuse in shipping curiosity got the best of me.
So if you want a cheap penguin bashing scope and still be set to throw it in your rifle and knock down a polar bear, I'd go Mueller.. if you just want a big ass hunk of glass and steel (er... questionable pot metal alloy and plastic)... hey, what happened to the NCStar/BSA options?
