TriStar T120 pistol

Postby PHATSPEED7x on Wed Jul 17, 2013 2:07 pm

Got an e-mail from Gallery of guns today and saw they got a whole shipment of these in, and were on sale until the 7-22-2013. I requested a quote, and my local dealer would sell it to me for $380 with sales tax, and transfer fee. I ordered one up, and hopefully I should see it in a couple days here.

TRISTAR? Hope it works out for you. I just learned my lesson on Oddball manufacturers. I too would like to hear the range report on this one.

... any story on these? ...

AFAIK, the EAA's have only large (.45acp) frames now, regardless of caliber?

How do these compare?

Are these basically the old AR's outta Turkey?

Not that it's important, but I seem to recall somethin bout these havin forged frames?

What it looks like is an almost exact copy of a CZ SP01 Shadow.

Looks like a Tanfoglio to me. I say Tanfoglio and not EAA because EAA is only an import company. I have BUL Cherokee from Israel that is actually Tanfoglio parts, or parts made in Israel in a factory set up by Tanfoglio. Mine is a BUG, even though a 3.5" bbl full size frame holding 17+1 rounds may not seem like it to you, it's a nice small pocket gun if you're an 800 lb. reloading troll who normally carries a 48 ounce full size 50 caliber 1911.

This is the BUL Cherokee: $335 NIB from CDNN

And its Tanfoglio twin - The Force Pro

Note the similarity in the fonts on the lettering between the two guns, and that is the standard Tanfoglio font. Also the identical metal serial number tags affixed to the guns.

Tanfoglio did the same thing in Turkey, so it could be one of those instead. Dunno about Turkish workmanship, but the Isralei's don't screw around when they make guns. Did run into a guy at Bill's who had bought a Turkish one, and he was happy with it and said it was accurate as hell, so they're probably all the same, more or less.

I owned EAA pistol and it was a good shooting gun. I have a feeling this one will do the same.

Sounded like he almost said they were virtually identical to the competition.

Looking forward to a range report.

Their C100 is a cz 75 clone. And they do advertise in American Rifleman.

Would you please share the name of the dealer you are working with? I'm looking at the T120 but have not been able to find anyone local to work with.

They're actually made by Samsun Yurt Savunma (SYS) in Turkey - huge defense contractor.

I saw the gun on the bottom right (not in camo) at FF in Brainerd last weekend. The funny black pad on top of the slide is a decocker, and the gun is striker fired.

That one is a copy of a Walther P99 called a TP9. They don't make bad guns, but they don't make original guns either ;)

I had the smith "copy" DAO, so mine didn't have the decocker. Without being interested enough to get the gal to take the trigger lock off, I didn't think too much of it in any regard. I still have my head in the 2011's underway. For $380ish, it's probably an ok deal.

I will say, I'd buy that 5x faster than you could get me to accept delivery on the PT1911 that was in the next case over. I didn't ask to try the trigger on that one either - no need when there's DENTS on the underside of the slide and firing pin stop. I don't even know how you'd hit that spot with that much force.
