Bastardized Mosin --- Don't Hate Me

Postby Currahee on Wed Jul 24, 2013 7:34 pm

Wanted to play around and do some stuff to a cheap rifle... in which if I screwed it up it didn't matter.

So I got a $149 Mosin Nagant and bastardized it. New butt pad, scope mount, scope, rings, bipod, pistol grip... and did a WW2 version of a digital camo job on it.

This is how it turned out with a few pics of the steps.

So after creating my own digital pattern, lots of sanding, primer, 3 different colors, and 2 coats of clear... that is what I got. $300 into a $150 rifle that will shoot a 6 inch group at 200 yards.

Was some good fun putzing in the garage though.

You know, the least you could do is adjust the grip so it's at a proper angle...
Jeesh... But, hey, if it works....

Otherwise, your camo looks nice and at the very least you kept it in a military configuration.
Now you gotta raise the comb to match the scope - otherwise your proper cheek weld will be on the bolt... :o

Looks like it's suitable for the next Mosin - Bubba build off!

I like it. Kind of. Get rid of the barrel mounted bipod, that can't possible help anything for accuracy. Also, what he ^^ said. Nice paint though! Love the paint!

Paint job is great. Someone needs to organize a Mosin group buy and then we have a bubba build off. Prob get the rifles for about $60 in crate. Who can organize a group buy on these rifles?!?!
Well, when I see 5 weirdos dressed in togas stabbing a guy in the middle of the park in full view of 100 people, I shoot the bastards. That's my policy.

I kind-of like it, not so much for the pistol grip, though.

You need to buy at least 1000 crates to get that price.

I don't wanna destroy a mosin, but if you guys do a group buy and the rifle is cheap enough I would be willing to buy one.

I'm really mad I missed the last bubba build off, but don't know if I'd be in on another one. Mosins are still kind of hard to get aren't they?

I'd bet if we went through the proper channels and told 'em we weren't picky, in the least, we might be able to get close to that.

They get it that cheap because they buy more than one crate at a time. I bet SOG bought at least 50 crates of the T53s.
