GOCRA RECOMMENDS AVOIDING BLOOMBERG BUS EVENT.

bus.jpg

Don't validate them with your presence!

Tomorrow morning, the Mayor Bloomberg New York Anti-Gun-Rights-Money-Bus is rolling into downtown Minneapolis.

GOCRA is strongly recommending that gun owners stay away from the event. The media would love the opportunity to show conflict, which sells newspapers and detergent commercials.

The anti-gunner bus represents out-of-state money, bringing out-of-state values of disarmament and state control, from the same mayor who brought bans on salt, fat and soft drink bans to New York City.

The Bloomberg/Joyce Foundation crew did their best in the Minnesota Legislature this spring to shove gun control down the throats of Minnesotans, piping in tens of thousands of dollars of out-of-state money, shills, and even a visit from the president of the United States.

In spite of this, we achieved a no-hit shutout: we stopped every rights-gouging proposal they made. They've already lost in Minnesota, and if they try it again next year, they'll lose even more decisively, and take the DFL majority down with them.

This bus tour is an attempt to reignite interest in an issue that's already been decided here -- and one that has lost nearly all steam nationwide.

Our VP, Andrew Rothman, has a degree in journalism, and explained to the board that journalists thrive on conflict: it's what makes a story "newsworthy." Without that conflict, this is just some people on a bus, preaching to a small choir.

GOCRA has successfully fought (and won numerous victories) for gun rights for more than 25 years, always following the philosophy pioneered by GOCRA's founder and president, Professor Joseph E. Olson: ignore the "opposition." Don't dignify them with our attention. Let them fester in their own obscurity.

GOCRA has a quarter century of credibility and results in this state, and we're not handing any of it over to the carpetbaggers from New York by treating their little press event as if it meant anything.

On the other hand, If you want to make a REAL difference for gun rights, take a new shooter to the range -- and ask them to sign up with GOCRA.

Thanks for supporting gun rights in Minnesota!

Thanks GOCRA but I'll go wherever and do what I want. The Bloomberg Bus even deserves to be protested.

That's the beauty of America... Everyone is free to make whatever choices they want in life, no matter how ill-advised. If you go, be sure to bring along one of these...

What exactly does that gain us? Drawing additional publicity to this event is not going to help.

Skip it. Don't give them controversy, which leads to publicity, which they're currently getting a diminishing amount of.

Or go to your nearest range. That's my plan, I'll let the targets know how I feel about the Mayors against the world people. No reason to make us look bad on national TV, that's really in their agenda and would do nothing but help their cause.

This might piss some people off, but I agree.

I'm not going for exactly the reasons detailed in GOCRA'S article, but I won't be told what to do, either.

This. Many on here confuse their rights to free speech with effective lobbying and/or public negotiating. And often do more harm than good. Your opinion and choices in how to present are all fine and good but the war is not for the hearts and minds of the opposition or those already on our side. It's for the (sometimes thin) slice in the middle called soccer moms. They vote and they want to feel safe. Billy-Bub, mall ninjas, camo dudes, and tea party freaks tend to push that middle to the anti side.

The gun culture needs to show up looking, sounding and smelling like mature, responsible normal people. We often miss the mark. There was a pro-2A rally in Harrisburg PA a couple years ago. ALL the media attention and subsequent articles and drama were around two bozos with a "the tree of liberty must be watered with he blood of tyrants and patriots" sign. The sign was off message for the rally and then these fools opened their mouths. Their 15 seconds of fame was embarrassing to anybody who had a 10th grade education and liked guns.

Sometimes, most times, it's better to let the pros do it. Or orchestrate it.

Well put, however, we can't sit out every situation because of a potential conflict. Emphasis needs to be placed on helping each other keep a cool head so the antis can make fools of themselves, rather than avoiding any situation that could go against us. Like it or not, we are stuck with the situation of being held to a double standard whereas the antis can say and do as they please and act as irrational as you can imagine with little to no publicity for their tirades.

Unfortunately, learning to navigate this double standard won't happen on an internet forum, it has to happen in real life, public situations.

As I've said before, we are expected to have absolute control of our emotions at all times simply for our belief in our rights, and we are strictly held to this standard. We are expected to always restrain ourselves in any way shape or form or or the screws will be put to all of us very publically.

The antis have no such requirement and no desire to hold themselves to anywhere near the standards they would impose on others. I can honestly understand the fear they hold. Their entire purpose revolves around the wanton disregard of others and complete lack of restraint that they implicitly expect of us.

It ain't fair, it ain't right, but you don't win a war hiding from the front lines.

A 'Bullet' was dodged when a local gun group

(forget the name but I think this is their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/tcGunsAndCarry)

abandoned plans to 'piggy-back' an 'open carry event' onto the Lyndale / Lake 'open streets' event.

These people have a 'High Enthusiasm Level' but were sober enough to 'De-escalate'. A good Thing.

Also In my opinion, GOCRA and the presentation at the House and Senate hearings this year was near flawless.

If I'm not mistaken we won at every turn and you could see the displeasure of both Sen. Lutz and Rep. Paymar.

Thanks, "Really-Smart-Guys"
