Several posts mentioned getting a good belt. I've seen a lot of the individuals who make holsters also make some nice looking belts. Prices seem to vary quite a bit too though. Anyone have any preferred vendors?

A wilderness tactical belt does the job and is only like $30.

Or 5.11 Tactical Instructor belt. It isn't too HSLD so I wear mine even without a gun

I wear a Spec-Ops belt that was available through Brigade Quartermasters, now a different company name, and there is an airport friendly version with a plastic buckle, which makes a big difference when flying!!

I've got 4 of the 5.11 belts. Wide and not so wide (1.75 and 1.5") - both are good options.

-1 here on the shoulder holster. An IWB will be much more versatile. You can wear it anytime of the year, to just about any wear, with just about anything. Shorts, pants, suits, kilts.... t shirt, sweater, vests... Sweater vests.....

They're not uncomfortable either. I carry a full size Glock 17 with shorts and a t shirt most of the time. Yes a smaller gun would probably be more comfy, but you get used to it.
I like the hybrid holsters. Inside made of leather or horse hide, outside made of kydex. I like Heimdhals Holsters. They're affordable, have metal clips, adjustable cant, and have a choice of colors and lettering available. http://www.hhholsters.com
Definitely get a good belt, I love my Jones tactical belt, i have two of them, but they're not for everyone, and are slightly expensive at around 70 bucks.

You should be able to find a nice leather belt for around 30-40 bucks. I'm sure others will post up some good ones.

Just bought one of these.... pretty pleased with it. Bit thick in the buckle area when belted up though. And the price is right.

I've got one of these (albeit in the 1.75 inch size they no longer offer):

Stiff, supports a gun really well, IMO looks classy, and it just feels really well made to me. In addition, it's *exactly* thick enough to fill the loops on my CCC BMC mag pouches such that they don't move at all once they're where I want them.

5 stitch wilderness belt love the roller buckle for inbetween size much more comfortable, Most leather belts have 1" spaceing between the holes so if your inbetween sizes a leather belt may be 1/2" tight or loose.
I have ordered leather belts with 3/4" hole spaceing which helps some but still mainly use the Wilderness belt.

Yep.
I have two of the 1-1/2" 5-stich belts for work, and one in 1-3/4 kydex reinforced. Either are pletny stiff for a full sized gun/ holster.
