Agree with most the posters here. Go with the Savage 10/12/110 series rifles. They will grow with you as you see fit. They are like the Lego's of bolt action rifles and just about every piece can be replaced by an aftermarket part if desired. But out of the box, for the money, they are one of the most accurate bolt actions you can buy. This has a lot to due with the floating bolt head design.

Buddy got his wife an axis in .243 - that thing is half inch at 100yds all day long. Accutrigger is the only thing missing (the crappy stock could use upgrading too).

I like the lightweight stock on my Axis, one of the main reasons I bought it in fact. Only way it could be better would be a tactical stock that is lighter
