I had to get rid of my TCP. Nothing but trouble. I will not touch a Taurus semi-automatic firearm again.

I had a tcp. It ran ok. Never had issues. My beretta nano has been a good subcompact 9mm.

My Shield passed the test, but the XDs had to go back. These things happen.

I got a voice mail tonight from arnzen arms about the recall. I had them do the transfer on my XDS. I am impressed at the level of customer service they are providing.

+1 I have had nothing but positive experiences with Arnzen...they are a welcome addition to the Twin Cities gun market and are always my first stop now when shopping around

Of course shipped off my XDS on Tuesday and what comes in the mail Wednesday? My PTC of course.

Trying to resist the urge to buy a S&W j-frame. A 360PD looks so nice, but really don't have the money to spend right now

This got me curious:
When such a recall occurs, does the manufacturer attempt to track down each effected gun through sales records, or it it simply a broadcast message through their distribution chains?

Since this is a voluntary recall I think it's just blast it through the channels which are easy and let the word spread. If it was pushed by the Consumer Product Safety Commission or some other regulation there would be a pile of rules and regulations for notification.

Has there ever been a gun recalled by a major mfg that wasn't voluntary?

Yes. Springfield requested the names and phone numbers of everyone that purchased a XD-S through our stores, and they received it the same day.

While it would be possible for us to personally call those affected, the factory generally requests that they be allowed to do it themselves so that the recall goes efficiently, to prevent incorrect information from being disseminated and to handle any questions the dealer may not be prepared to answer.

Squib Joe,

thanks so much for posting this. After seeing it I was reminded that my son had picked one of these up just this last spring.
He doesn't have much time to frequent the internet so I brought to his attention and sure enough his has to go back.

Even though from time to time there is a lot of squabbling and light hearted ribbing ;) on the this board it is a source for good information as in this case.

Again thank you for your genuine concern for the safety of other shooters on the board.
