No ATF with shutdown?

So if there's no one to deny or approve a 4473, is that an automatic proceed after 3 days?

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the outcome of the vote.

NICS is managed by the FBI, in any event.

ATF's criminal enforcement will continue too.

CNN was reporting last night that no gun permits would issue if the shutdown occurred. Was one of a list of things that would be purportedly put on hold. No explanation what it meant. I figured it was nics related but in light of this thread, who now knows. Probably just a mistake of reporting yet again.

Understanding the CNN mindset, I'd say it was wishful thinking on their part. .....................

Well, I'm pretty sure I can't submit my 07 FFL application now... At least not expecting to have anyone do anything with it. So there's some truth to that.

Carry permits, and purchase permits are all local government issues.

It is amazing how ridiculous things get when government is involved. Since the government is 'shut down', NASA is 'closed'. So, their web site has been changed to say: "Due to the lapse in federal government funding, this website is not available.". Well, if you still have the web servers on-line, powered up, connected to the network, in a functional datacenter, in order to display this 'closed' message then why can't you just display the regular damned web site?? I'm pretty sure they didn't push the EPO button and shut it all down. Ugh.

Yeah, parks are closed, because god knows what people would do if they wandered about without a govt park ranger liaison keeping tabs on them... They might find nothing changed and start objecting to paying those people. :o

Yeah, no kidding. They actually pay someone to tell me I can't bring bottles and cans into the BWCA... EVERY TIME I'M THERE! A gorram 18"x24" placard could do the same job for... lets see... ZERO DOLLARS A YEAR.

I hope someone tells the folks on the ISS :o (assuming they are deemed "essential" I guess)

Or maybe Vladamir can handle that situation too since BHO can't.

Funny. G-dub could call him "Pooty-Poot", BHO pretty much has to call him sir. That tells ya somethin' right there.

NFA Branch is shut down....no tax stamps going out. Otherwise NICS is working, PTC/PTP are state/local.
