I was one of the vocal ones about not liking how the match was two weeks ago. I liked how it was ran last night. Seemed to me things went a lot smoother and flowed nicely. I think it was a good change and I hope it stays.

I also liked the format last night better then the previous change. It allowed you to shoot in near the order you arrived rather then some random order yet still allowed you to leave a little bit earlier then the old way.

You retained the help of people pasting targets, being there to plan how you are going to shoot the stage and the social part of it. The range officers also didn't look as worn out as the previous week.

Good job Mike and others! It's always a fun night. My only suggestion is someone needs to hide the black tape on Mike.

I agree with all the comments, last night went very smooth and I had a lot of fun. Let's keep this format!

We weren't. We thought it went well, too. [And the scoring is nearly done.]

Got a question on a name, and I've emailed the person. Just waiting for his reply.

And four shooters didn't pick a division or power factor. Two I looked up, but the others were new. Ah, well.

I'll post a short note here when they're sent.

Screw that, if a person can't make a few circles and write legibly. Score them Open Mouse and you can pick a name for them.

Great Night! Everyone I talked to had fun.

I think the new format is working great! My only comment is that it might be worth moving scoresheets to the other stage (putting them on the bottom) as soon as that shooter (or group of 5-10, whatever) is done. Even getting through 3-4 shooters saves 10 minutes instead of having a stage empty.

If letting shooters have their own scoresheets feels too chaotic, even just making sure the first 5-10 sheets get over to the other stage when it looks like that other group is done could really save some time.

Great job though Mike! Burnsville is one of my favorite leagues, thanks for keeping it awesome!

(Next we will talk about using something other than foam boxes, like half round rubber, or PVC, or molding, etc. I may make some to show you. :) )

It would be too chaotic, and not give the ROs any rest time. They need to get a breather.
Also, when the entire squad moves to the other bay, they all get a walk-through at the same time. That includes asking questions and just "walking through" before the shooting starts. If they came over in "clumps" we'd lose the ability to do that.

Thanks, and glad you like it (the donation jar will be at the door next time  ;) ).

The foam strips (actually foam pipe insulation I've split) serve a purpose: fault lines, shooting boxes, or whatever else I can think of. I've steered away from PVC (1/2" prefered) or wood (1x1s) since they're both hard and will sit on a concrete floor. Too big and they'd be a trip hazard. Too hard and they would slip if someone stepped on them. Oakdale uses 2x2s that are fixed at the corners, and spiked into the ground! What I need is something like the foam strips that's about the same size as we're using, but stiffer, can attach firmly at the corners, and can be held securely to the floor.

Ideas? :cogitating:

What about half moon dowels under the foam to give it some rigidity? It would give the shooters some feel and prevent the gamers from bending it with the tips of their feet. Painters tape seems like the best non-destructive solution for attaching things in the bay.

I also thought the latest squadding method was pretty great, nice work.
