You'd think they would want people to know ASAP, to avoid potential lawsuits. Good question....especially if you gave them your email address when you registered the pistol

Did you actually send in your warranty card on the gun when you bought it? That's the only way they would have known how to contact you. It's not just for marketing information.

They are handling this a lot better than glock ever did.

Now that's saying a lot. I always heard Glock has stellar customer service. For instance, I was told if you send your Glock in for repair, they do free upgrades where and when they can.

I am waiting to send mine in to avoid the rush of everyone else getting theirs in, I have other carry options so waiting doesn't bother me.

In 1993, glock had an issue with the slide rails breaking on the receiver, glock never notified their dealers. They stated they would repair LEO/Military receivers first.

You sent in your gun and it would be 14-18 months before completed for civilians.

Yeah, stellar service.

Playskol had better service on their toys at the time.

And for the record...

So does Beretta. And Ruger was kind enough on my MKII to send me the new rebound spring on mine.

Remington has also sent me notices on firearms I have sent in a warranty card and/or sent me the parts to update.

Glock is the only one that has given me any issues. "send it in and we'll return it when we can which may be up to 16-18 months. Civilians are no priority on this issue."

I registered online, I actually got my first email directly from them last week. Funny how you calm down with time, but what else can you do? The upside, a possible bad scenario is now corrected and I get another mag out of it. Definitely looking forward to getting it back and hoping it shoots and feels the same, I miss having it.

I got word of glocks issue learning about it from an armorer for the US Immigrations I was working with on border security. Rather frustrating when you go to the dealer and other repair centers never heard about it.

Not until I got Scheels where I bought it to call the factory rep were they able to get a better answer. I was able to get a store credit for the pistol as all of the pistols they had in stock got taken off the shelf that night. Seems a lot of them got sent back as a result for exchange.

Even Scheels was not happy and had discussed dropping them until they corrected the problem entirely. I noticed they never came off the shelf long so Glock must have corrected it pretty quickly with them.

So yeah, SA is doing pretty decent from what I am seeing on this one.

My friend just got a free XDs from me this weekend. Just not worth the hassle for me to deal with it when I have so much else going on right now in life. Now he can deal with it, get the free 7-round magazine, etc.

I don't have any idea when I'll even be able to go shooting as it is. I know it'll be at least a good 3 months, and then will the Winter be mild enough to shoot in? I really don't want to shoot indoors since it's enclosed and I'll get more vaporized lead exposure that way versus if I shoot outdoors. I don't want my liver to work any harder than it has to, and I want to keep as much lead exposure to a minimum as possible.

I like how they've had my gun since the end of August and I received a letter today that they've been informed that I've purchased one of them and that they have a recall on it and I need to send it in, blah, blah, blah. Not sure why they would do that, you would think they would cross check the received recall inventory before printing and mailing, but then again, they don't have me in their IT staff. At least common sense to me, is if I sent it in, I'm already aware of the recall. I hope if doesn't mean they do crosscheck and they don't have a clue where my gun is!

Same here on receiving a letter today, just hope it doesn't mean they are just now acknowledging receipt and I'm on the bottom of the repair heap. They received it Sept 4th.

Sent mine off via FedEx today after removing the PRP spring kit I had installed. I'm hoping to have it back by end of January. I shot a massive 20 rounds through it before I had to send it in. Oh well... **** happens.

Not to worry young man. When I called them end of last week, per my serial number they knew they had it. And when they received it. Anticipating return next week with complimentary magazine :) Hope it's a playboy

I gave them a call for the heck of it on Thursday. The gal I talked to was very nice, I asked why they sent out the letter now since they have had my gun since the end of August and she stated they probably just missed each other in the mail? I replied with 'a 3 day Fed Ex ship in August vs a letter received in Oct?' A pause and she replied, yea, that's kind of silly isn't it? :D I asked, you do have it right? The letter wasn't sent because you don't have it, so she checked and confirmed that they have it and I'm scheduled in the first batch to be repaired and shipped out! :D So I could see mine back the week after next hopefully! A nice pleasant conversation and looking forward to trying out my 9 with the new never used crossbreed IWB holster that's been sitting here waiting for it.
