Big Man Gun Belts

Postby BigDog58 on Mon Nov 11, 2013 8:00 pm

A month or two back there was a thread we were discussing where I could find a good gun belt for a Big Man (Fat like me) but I cannot find the thread here. If I remember correctly wazfuzz and a couple other people suggested a place in Iowa or one of the states surrounding MN, but I might be mistaken.

Can you all help me and either post a link or the name of a place that carries or makes Gun Belts for those of us that have large waist lines? I am trying to pre-plan for being able to begin shooting competition if my hip surgery helps me enough to actually be able to shoot in the Steel Shoots and hopefully, IDPA. I do know about "Belt Man" but I am almost positive someone refered to another belt maker that was a bit cheaper.

I am also looking to get a second belt to wear for everyday CCW as I hope to be able to begin carrying IWB instead of having to always use a fanny pack designed for CCW. Once I don't have to rely on a wheelchair, I will start carrying IWB because I won't have to contend with the wheelchair arms and their confinement.

If you remember, or can find the previous topics, please post that link as well. I did a search as "Gun Belt" but it did not provide the results I had hoped.

Thanks,

These look like they go to a pretty good size too.

I own this one BTW and am pretty pleased with it, for the price.

I just got one from Bullhide Belts and am very happy with it. Since I like it going to order a brown one too pretty soon. I did order their "dress belt" though. It's 3/16" instead of 1/4" so a massive 1/16" smaller whatever difference that makes. My logic was I'm only carrying an XDS so I probably don't need the full thickness. Granted just got my XDS back yesterday so can't say for sure yet if that logic was good.

Jdege,

As is usual for me, I'm coming to the game late. Been looking for a reliable, extended use conceal holster for a few years and always finding they don't last. Luck of the draw, I suppose (pun intended). Either the leather tears around the screws or the kydex cracks.

Recently found your old threads on how you carry. Sounds intriguing and I, too, work in environment where shirts must be tucked but jackets are frowned upon. Really enjoyed your writeup but unfortunately, all the pics are gone (at least the links to them no longer fetch them up).

Any chance you posted them someplace else? Maybe a picture site outside of this forum, or another thread here?

Would really like to try an iwb that doesn't hook to my pants belt AND is comfortable and clean. Thanks much.

Tx

I'll see if I can't find the pics, and repost.

Worst comes to worst, I still use the belt, and I can take new pics.

I've updated my "How I Carry" post to fix the broken image links:
