I am looking at trading my ps4 for a west german sig p220 and was wondering if there is anything in particular I should look for and how is thier warranty program, I know it's limited lifetime but never dealt with them personally ?

Here are the pics he sent me....

I would field strip it and look at the slide rails to make sure there are no cracks, check the barrel crown for damage look in the chamber to see if there is any scratches or corrosion.

The alloy frames will crack after hard use and lack of lube. See the pic below, if there is excessive wear in the frame rail channel, you might have issues... wear on top and the sides is normal.

With the gun reassembled, press down on the barrel hood to make sure you have good lock up; the barrel shouldn't unlock with downward pressure.

Clear the gun, and drop a #2 pencil with eraser down the barrel. Press the trigger and the pencil should shoot out. This will generally tell you that the gun is capable of firing.

Run your finger nail across the top and bottom of the barrel where the "smileys" are. They should be either perfectly smooth, or a just barely detectable change in smoothness. There should not be a significant change. If there is, the outside of the barrel has been worn, and will need to be replaced or you will suffer an accuracy loss.

Look at the underneath of the frame rails. You should not see aluminum. Black or dark orange is ok. Many people don't realize that recoil forces are back and UP, and they don't get enough lube on the underneath of the rails to properly protect it from wear. If you see aluminum, pass on it.

You should plan on replacing all the springs on a used gun, since you can't be certain the round count. This is especially true if you plan on carrying it or using it for defense. http://www.topgunsupply.com for spring kits and other replacement parts for Sigs.

The German P220s are fantastic guns. As long as it was well lubed and not abused, it should be just as accurate as the day it was born. Hope this helps!

EDIT: I cannot believe how clean this old girl is for 22 years old, and it feels like it was made for my big hands, I'm in love.
