Highly amusing to watch Paymar's butthurt.
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.

Who's the goofball next to Ingebritsen going on with the 'I am going to say the following but I don't want my comment characterized by it's content and I should not be seen to have said what I'm going to say, and I don't want my No vote to be considered as as a vote against the item I'm voting against...or something.'

Can anyone offer some insight on the wisdom of the--IMO stupid--suggestion that a compromise be made by requiring specific holster designs and retention systems for carriers? Is this a ploy to change the conversation and deflate Paymar's argument, or an innocent flub by a well-intentioned but naive person?

That's the outside consultant (unpaid) whose exerptise is on courthosue security. He's an ex-US MArshal.

Wow. For a guy who has every reason to be well informed, he sure isn't. Banning carry is political. That designated holsters thing is just dumb...and probably political.

Steve Swenson is desperate to be relevant to the committee. He previously wrote a recommendation to ban all guns from capitol.
Then when that didn't work, he supported lock-boxes for the committee
When that didn't work, not hes trying to mandate holsters.

Oh, and his "Center"? One employee... Guess who.

So I was actually quoted, more or less accurately, in the Strib's ultra-light coverage.
Jake Liefschultz, a member of the Minnesota Gun Owners Civil Rights Alliance, said despite some concerns about the potential cost, he’s pleased that legal permit holders will still be allowed to enter the building. A gun ban, he said, worries him on two fronts:

“One: that it’s directly impractical, and two as a matter of principle.” he said.

I think Rob was giving an interview at the same time on the other side of the room and was looking over the interviewer's shoulder at me like "...oh CRAP!"

I made it clear that I'm not among the leadership and didn't want my sentiments presented in that light. I think it worked out ok.

This committee meeting turned out to be not nearly as big a deal as it promised to be, given the trouble last time around.

No worries! The Strib routinely avoids GOCRA leadership, hoping to get a juicy soundbyte from a pro-gun nutjob.
