Any recommendations for places to look for best 9mm prices.

My brother followed in his big brother's foot steps last week and picked up an SP-01 from Arnzen arms. It his first firearm, and in an attempt to encourage this new hobby, I am gonna try to help him find a good deal on some bulk ammo-1000+ rounds of 9mm. I am a bit out of the game, as I have been rolling my own, but I used Ammoseek for my last factory ammo purchase (.44mag), and I know Gunbot offers similar information. You guys have any other recommendations for other places to look?

Walmart. When they have it it is cheaper than anyplace else I have seen. I've bought several 100 round boxes since last summer and have paid an average of $14/50. The next cheapest was Cabela's when I bought a bulk pack of remanufactured 9mm for about $12/50 but that was last summer. I haven't seen any since but then I haven't looked either.

I haven't seen it under $.24 a round plus shipping. Gunbot is just as good as anywhere.

I saw a few dozen boxes of 9mm TulAmmo brass at Wally World the other day.
The dang bin tag/price tag was flipped over. <--same with a dozen boxes of 5.56
Made me think of that old saying "If you have to ask the price, you can't afford it."

Fleet farm in both BP and Carver have been hit or miss whenI was there for 9mm but have had quite decent prices when in stock.

If you're already rolling your own, why not teach him to do the same? Get him squared away on your equipment and let him use it until he can afford to buy his own. My father in law did that for me, and I'll always be grateful. He saved me a ton of money *and* gave me a new hobby at the same time...

I hear ya....but I am not sure my brother is on board. Whether you think it is a blessing or curse, he has more disposable income than time at this point in life. I have already floated the idea of splitting the cost of a progressive at some point, but I have made it clear that he will be responsible for loading his own ammo. I would be willing to teach or at least point in the right direction, beginning with the use of my single stage press and close supervision.

We will see where everything goes...I have already laid claim to his once fired brass so I will need to compensate him for that which will mitigate some cost.

Right now I am just excited we have a common interest, cause golf sucks ...or is it I suck at golf .

Federal 9mm for $14.77 for 50.

Its hit or miss, but seams to be more hit lately.

Also try Joe's sporting goods in St. Paul.

Your only going to be able to buy 3 boxes at a time for the most part, so just get some here, some there.

I miss the days when I could buy 20 boxes and get a discount...

Tula handgun ammo at Wally World has been ungodly expensive, sometimes $1-$2 less than Federal reloadable brass in the 100 round bulk packs and often the same price. It is significantly cheaper than 50 round boxes of about anything on the shelf. I've bought a couple boxes of it in 9mm, 40 S&W, and 45 ACP for shooting stumps at the cabin but the prices keep me away otherwise.

The 223 Tula isn't nearly as bad, either $5 or $6 per box. I use it for shooting stumps too. The brass 223 runs from $8-$12 depending on brand with Federal/American Eagle being cheaper and Winchester/USA the most.

Right now on gunbot you can get brass cased 9mm for around $250 shipped. You won't do better than that locally, especially after paying sales tax and gas to go to the store 10 times to buy your limit of 100. Nobody in this thread has posted anything cheaper than that...

I've shot a few thousand rounds of that stuff. It's not bad overall, but it's not fully resized. It shoots fine out my my stock Sig barrels, but I've have failure to extract from time to time with my BarSto match grade barrels with tight chambers. I had to remove the barrel and pound the case out with a dowel. It's the best priced plinking ammo I've been able to find, but it's definitely not top notch.

Eitehr one of those. I have shot 1500 rounds of freedom munitions in 9mm and .40. Never tried the high country range master but I shoot a stock Glock so I don't really care what I put in it.
