Buy one Sig 1911-45, get a 1911-22 for free

Purchase one of a select six Sig-Sauer 1911's and receive a 1911-22 for free. I thought this was a Gander Mountain deal, but it is a Sig deal with authorized and participating dealers.

The Sig 1911 22LR pistol isn't legal to sell in MN.

We have a Saturday Night Special law that prohibits dealers

from selling/transferring this gun as well as some of the junk guns.

The Sig 1911 22LR frame is zinc which doesn't meet our

melting point requirement, which is 1000 degrees.

I realize some stores will sell these, but just saying it isn't legal.

If I sell one I need to sell it out of state.

I had a GSG 1911 (same gun as the Sig but re-branded) and researched this when I bought it. Same Zinc alloy that is used in the slide is also used in other small caliber handguns (i.e. Mosquito) The material has been updated since this 1911 was first introduced, if I remember correctly. I know originally they were not allowed to be sold in MN but I believe after the update they are fine.

I put a few thousand rounds through mine, was a lot of fun to shoot and quite accurate.

I talked to Sig within the past month and was told they are still zinc.
the Mosquito is a polymer frame.

Also depending on the exact arrangement between Sig and the retailer you will probably be on the hook for the sales tax based on the retail price of the firearm. So not really FREE.

The only retailers that can offer this had to have signed up for the promo at SHOT show.

I see that Cabelas is offering the deal also.

A sign up at gander mtn today said the .22s in this deal were sold out nationwide due to 'unexpected demand' and would not be available via raincheck or backorder. They had apparently been selling them there where I know other guns in the 'saturday night special' category are expressly not sold.

Is there a reason for that law in this state or is it more bureaucratic BS? Thanks.

Talked to the Sig rep today and he said offer ended yesterday due to them running out of the 22's.
