Help Finding MARPAT

Postby pennygunner on Tue Feb 18, 2014 9:06 pm

If anyone knows where I can pick up some higher quality MARPAT pouches for my FLC, let me know. Thanks!

Do you have an FLC that's been issued and you have to wear it by mandate?

The USMC FLC is coyote tan, and they primarily use coyote tan pouches. You can pretty much use anything with coyote. If this is to match MARPAT cammies, that's the best you're going to do unless you go with some bottom dollar eBay retailer from Taiwan. Most quality gear companies (FirstSpear, BFG, SKD, Marz, Emdom, HSGI, Tyr Tactical, CTOMS, Mayflower, etc) only make the traditional solid colors, and then multicam and the new camos like Kryptek. Some occasionally make ARPAT or woodland or desert digital.

If the use is mandated by military requirement, or if you are part of a military recreation/airsoft group, just do that.

If this is for personal training use, ditch the FLC. I have experience with it both operationally and in a training environment, and it's a very insufficient platform. Calling it "jack of all trades, master of none" would be overly generous. There are better platforms that are designed better, are more ergonomic, and distribute weight better. The FLC was designed to allow the user to carry everything including the kitchen sink over their armor. From a training and operational perspective, this is counter-productive in all but a few select instances of necessity. With the type of gear that is available today, there are so many better options available. Having stood behind a line of shooters and watched them fumble through a dozen different pockets in ill-fitting vests, I am fairly resolute in the overall inadequacy of these vest type platforms.

LBE was horrible gear but it was the best available for time being.
LBV was junk but it was the best available when it came out.
Preconfigured vests (like those sold by Blackchicken!) were/are junk but they were the best when they were orignally created
FLC was the natural evolution of the preconfigured vest, but it still sucks.

I could start going into detail, and if Dave@huldraarms stops in here he'll know exactly where I'm going with this...but suffice it to say that I'm very vocal about shortcomings of this platform.

Here's the thing- if you have to use it, so be it. You'll have to make it work. If you don't, and you have no significant investment made into it, don't dump money into this platform.
