What about NAGR??

Postby jtk5768 on Tue Feb 25, 2014 9:00 pm

Does anyone know anything about National Association for Gun Rights? Some how got on their email list probably through facebook. Every email is doom and gloom for gun rights. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

LOL

I just learned another useful acronym.

For those that don't want to click, NAGR is a scam.

If you want a more legit NRA alternative, look at Gun Owners of America.

That's a thread in itself, but in summary some people feel that the NRA hasn't done the best job of promoting and protecting gun rights. I'd say sheer name recognition makes them of some use but ymmv.

Advocacy begins at home. GOCRA - GOPAC are great choices for local watchdog groups that can make a difference here, now and every day they continue to get support. There are places for the large national organizations and support there is important, but you get a lot of bang for your buck supporting the local groups.

I've also heard that NAGR is pretty useless.

What about NAGR??

Postby jshuberg on Thu Feb 27, 2014 12:59 pm

There is one reason why we enjoy some of the best firearms laws in the country, and were able to successfully defend against the post Sandy Hook assault - GOCRA. We watched as state after state passed laws that infringed on the fundamental rights of the people, but it didn't happen here. The NRA and other organizations fight the good fight at the national level, but at the state level GOCRA is the organization that has been working on our behalf for decades.

This year the threat isn't at the national level, it's at the state level, so any monies you wish to donate to the cause of firearms rights are best sent to GOCRA and the newly created MNGOPAC. Together these separate organizations are poised to do more for MN gun rights than any of the big national organizations.
