Coated Bullets, HI-TEK

Postby steve4102 on Wed Mar 05, 2014 8:47 pm

Fired my first HI-TEK coated bullets today.
I screwed these up a little. I coated them in my cold garage and they were not quite warm enough to dry before cooking.

The looked good, felt good, but did not pass the Hammer Test.

I loaded 100 of these Lee 180gr TC in 10mm with 8gr of Silhouette anyway.

25 yards off a bag, 100 rounds, RIA 10MM.

Here is what came out of the barrel with my Chore Boy scrubbing.

Tomorrow I test more rounds with bullet that did pass the Hammer test.

Have you tried the Powder coated bullets yet? It is easier and faster than the HI-TEK method. passes hammer test first time every time.

Powder coating is the new avenue in cast bullets, simple, accurate, not costly and clean.
What's not to like:) Get rid of that nasty lube.

Does this work for rifle? Would these be ok to hunt with?

Yes they also work with Rifle bullets. Still need to gas check them. I have read of others using powder coated bullets for hunting.
