My mild OCD makes me take the ammo out of packages and place them in the plastic ammo cases. But I have seen images with the bullet pointing up and some with it pointing down (in different calibers). What is the correct way?
I do both ways depending on my mood. Rifle rounds generally get packed bullet up and pistol bullet down. I have no real idea why other than this seems to be the way they open when dealing with factory ammo.
Since I reload, tip down as I check primers before putting them in the box.

Primer checks are very important. Had one factory round without a primer that I didn't catch until I pulled the trigger during a match. That was a REALLY LOUD CLICK!
If you're reloading, as others have said 'tip down' as checking for raised or non-existent primers are the last step. It's also easier to see any OAL inconsistencies
For factory loaded ammo and OCD, you won't be happy with them not settling in an organized fashion unless you go tip-up or get a properly fitting case. My .45 fits great in its case, but my 9mm wobbles as the picture shows.
I used to use those, now it's just for rounds I've cycled out of rotation in my carry magazines. Now I toss mine in a Lock n Lock container with the label from the box. I stock up on more of them when they go on sale at woot.com
Tip down, because it's easier to grab the rim of the case than the smooth tip of a 9mm or 45 FMJ bullet. God help you if the bullets are moly coated. Also primer check.
Tip up, because round nose 9mm wobbling around annoys me, and because when using an UpLula to load mags, it's quicker/easier to hold the rounds by the bullet anyway. That said, I do of course check the primers first.
