By "target" ammo and "target" practice do you really mean "plinking"? I don't have a lot of experience with the SR-22, but I would imagine you would have to be a world-class shooter to make ammo be the limiting factor in shooting accuracy with a SR-22. Yes, I have read things about some SR-22s being ammo picky but from what I've read that's during the break-in period and they eat almost anything after they're broke-in.
If you thoroughly clean after every range session the cleanliness of the ammo shouldn't really be a factor. If you're not a world-class shooter; or at a minimum a damn good shooter in some sort of competition, then ammo accuracy isn't a factor shooting out of a SR-22.
Shoot 200 of the the CCI Mini-Mags for break-in, then try a couple magazines of whatever is the cheapest .22 you can get your hands on. If the gun works with the cheap stuff then use the cheap stuff and save the Mini-Mags for breaking in new guns, hunting wabbits, or self-defense (and gun/ammo function checks) if the SR-22 is your only or primary SD gun. If the SR-22 isn't loose enough to function 99% with cheap bulk ammo after 200 Mini-Mags then run another 100 Mini-Mags and re-try the cheap junk. Repeat until the gun eats the cheap stuff 99% of the time. I rented a SR-22, it probably had 10,000 rounds through it, but it ate everything I fed it including CCI Stinger, CCI Mini-Mag, Federal American Eagle, Winchester 333 value pack, and Remington Sub-Sonic. The SR-22 is a great training/plinking gun if you prefer something with all the bigger caliber features but the lower cost and recoil of shooting 22.
