What to buy?

Postby Straightshooter on Tue Nov 18, 2014 5:30 pm

The wife gets to go on a cruise, I get a new toy. Need some recommendations/ideas on what to get.
What I have Glocks, 22 pistol and rifle, ar-15 and walther pps for carry. What I don't have and want: 1911, revolver, tavor, battle rifle in 308 anything else you might come with. This is causing me much angst.

Between 600-1000 for handgun and 1800 for the rifle

+1 on a 1911! Many good options in your range. If your Glock is 9mm you can get a 1911 in 9mm and keep your caliber count low. Although eventually you will buy a 45 anyway :)

Did you just buy that beautiful firearm, or are you trying to sell that piece of crap?

For a 1911, check out Dan Wesson stuff. Some beautiful guns. I love that they keep the slides pretty much free of writing and advertising. Here's an example of a nice bobtail.

And they make them in 10mm too!

I would think a Bolt Action Rifle and a Shotgun should fill out your collection.

Springfield M1A would be one way to scratch the battle rifle itch, an AR10 is probably more practical/affordable for the performance it affords though.

You can't go wrong with the Tavor. A true combat firearm. (And it's not a new caliber for you)

+1!

My main carry is the DW CCO. LOVE it! Commander slide with officer frame... .And it is the wife's favorite gun to shoot. Spend a little more than $1k on this at buds and you will have a new carry weapon. Dan Wesson (in my opinion) is the best value for any production gun.

How about an AK? Remember man does not live by AR's alone. ;)

I also have PPS for carry and a slew of ARs. And a Colt "Black Army for my 1911. BUT... right around the corner is the Sig MPX 9mm (or .40, .357 Sig) pistol with SBX brace. Should be out real soon. Play with it while you save up a little more for a Dan Wesson Valor Black. Then you will truly be the coolest kid on the block.

The AK will have to wait till next year, unless you have one for sale at a reasonable price.
