Do you also wear a kevlar-reinforced helmet and 5 point restraint in your car? I mean, providing for your safety where other's don't provide it for you? Because you are in far more danger of being killed in a car accident than being killed in a terror attack, or dying in a structure fire.

I never worry about being killed in a terror attack or dying in a structure fire. My fire extinguishers are mainly for putting out small fires before they become big fires, so you'd be right to point out that it's not primarily a safety issue. I have kevlar-reinforced underwear and a 5 point jock strap. I drive defensively, wear my seatbelt, and have reasonably safe vehicles. I also floss at least twice a week whether I need it or not.

I really don't understand everybody's dislike for that place. It's the only place that has all the stores my wife shops at in one location and they have good food also. I refuse to go there with out of towners if I have the option because I don't go there to explore, get in get out type of situation.

But I work with a guy that despises the place although he's also very proud to admit he's never been there even once.

Amid concerns about the Mall of America being targeted for a terrorist attack, a top member of the Minnesota House of Representatives was strongly critical today of signs posted at the Mall of the America which states the mall "bans guns."
Representative Tony Cornish (R-Vernon Center), chair of the House Public Safety and Crime Prevention Policy and Finance Committee, said the signs create a "killing zone" at the Mall of America. Cornish called the signs at the Mall of America "completely worthless" adding, "they have no standing" to prevent individuals with a permit to carry a handgun in public from doing so at the Mall of America.

Been there a few times in the past. One reason I don't go there more often is the cost of goods sold there. Everything is more expensive than comparable stores elsewhere in the cities and even at the SAME chain stores located elsewhere. But mainly, because there are no sporting goods store there.....although it's kinda funny that in the first year they were open, there WAS a sporting goods store up on the third level that DID sell firearms! That practice was soon halted after about a year.

The MN Gun Owners PAC was asked for comments for an upcoming Star Tribune story - here's what we told them:

"The Mall of America has long had a policy to prohibit lawful carry of firearms by Minnesotans, including posting signs throughout the mall and removing permit holders seen to be carrying firearms.

Minnesota law, however, prohibits a landlord from interfering with the carrying of firearms under MN statute 624.714 by tenants or their guests.

The Mall of America is well aware that as landlords they cannot ban lawful carry. Carrying at the Mall of America does not violate the law, only the mall's wishes.

The current threat environment makes it unconscionable to seek to prohibit self-defense by the mall's customers."

If the sign were made of 3/4" AR500 plate steel it might keep someone safe.
