Being that Mark Dayton is trying so hard to push expanding habitat for pheasants has, anyone thought to ask him if he puts hearing protection on his dogs when they go hunting? Maybe it a dumb idea just something I was thinking about emailing him about. Maybe we could get some reps from supressorco to take him shooting or somthing.

All I could think of during the "assumed risk" analogy from Rep Rosenthal about motorcycle riding + helmets was... they don't make you pay $500-1000 or wait a year to buy a helmet. Might not want to run with that one sparky.

Orange tap. If you are in the woods and hearing gun shots you had better be hunting. If you are in the woods during season and not hunting your are stupid. Had a friend that had a litte cabin by Bruno. Two sides of his land butted up to a sate forest. He was not a hunter but he knew that being there during deer season was dangerous. He would go after deer season to check the cabin for holes. Orange tape on the dog would just define the shape making an easy target.

It's funny because supressors were developed in parallel with mufflers for internal combustion engines as hearing protection. I'll be Rep. Rosenthal would not support removing mufflers from cars and motorcycles so we can hear them better. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suppressor

Suppressor, Second Amendment bills hearing scheduled!

I spoke with Rep. Rosenthal after the hearing, to address some of his questions he raised at the end, after testimony was concluded.

He didn't understand why a suppressor would benefit anyone if they still need hearing protection under some circumstances. I told him that the CDC recommends dual hearing protection, plugs and muffs when shooting, and that use of a suppressor would eliminate the need for one if not both levels of hearing protection. I also emphasized that communication between shooters, and especially student and instructor are essential for safety. He got it.

His other concern was that if someone was hunting with a suppressor, that he wants to hear it if it comes near his property. I pointed out that a suppressor only muffles the muzzle blast at the shooter. If a round were to travel past a person in the woods, they would still hear the ballistic crack the same as he otherwise would have. He got that as well.

Had someone told him these things before the hearing, he wouldn't have needed to bring them up. He did vote for the bill despite his lingering questions, but this just evidences that we *all* need to embark on an education campaign with both members of the legislature and with the general public. Did he not listen to Andrew's opening statement? I thought Andrew explained the physics quite clearly, and emphasized that a suppressor only acts on the gases expelled from the barrel.

Some people need to have things explained a couple times, or a couple different ways before it clicks for them.

DFL'ers like this bill because it lets them look pro-gun/pro-hunting...with nearly no downside....criminals aren't going to be out buying legal suppressors.
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.

I really want to Thank All of You who take your time and effort to do all you can to ensure our second amendment rights.

Sadly I know I need to do more. Even though work is long and hard for me now and I can not always make the hearings I could at the very least call and e-mail my representatives more. I need to make sure they know who I am and where I stand even though I am surrounded and represented by the gun grabbers. Its the same where I worship 5-10 % of the people seem do all the work and here again, sadly, many times I am a just pew sitter.

So Thank You and wanted to let you know how much I appreciate all you do. Gods Blessings.........

We wait for action on the house floor (up to the House Leadership) or the Senate Judiciary Committee to hear the Senate version of the bill.
