Where is the Alliant rifle powder?

Postby RmeJu on Fri Apr 10, 2015 10:52 am

I developed a 7mm Rem Mag load using RL 22, and wanted to buy a 5lb jug, but nobody seems to have had any for (even in 1lb) awhile now.

Ammocraft does have some 1lbs for $28, but that seems steep... I guess I'll have to hold my nose and go get some if there isn't any more forthcoming in the near future, but before I do, I thought I'd deep by here and check the rumor mill.

Any word on when Alliant will be resupplying our LGSs?

GunStop shows one pounders in stock (no price) http://www.gunstop.com/news/powder-primers-available-in-store.

Powder Valley shows 5 pounders for $101, limit 4. http://www.powdervalleyinc.com

IIRC, and I may not be right about this, but I seem to recall RL 15 and RL 22 at a few FF's in the past. Don't ever use those powders, but when all the pistol powder was missing some of this big caliber slow burning stuff seemed to be on the shelves.

@Rip: I didn't see any RL22 following either link... Is something wrong with my browser?

About a month ago Metro Gun Club was selling Reloader 22 5# for $92. I would actually say there's a decent chance they still have some. Give them a call.

@grim: They DO still have some! It's $111 now, unfortunately , which is merely reasonable, instead of a steal, but I can do reasonable.

Anyway, they put a jug off to the side for me. Thanks for the tip! You just made my Friday!

Last time I was at the Lakeville Fleet Farm (last Saturday), they had 1# bottles of RL22. Don't recall the price, but it seems to me it was somewhere between $25 and $30.

RL 22 easy to find. But the suppliers in the chain for TC dealers not best option possible. Get to a different state and get . I'd buy it for you, but getting a committment is an issue.
Proudly launching lead from a Swiss P-240 at a range near you.
