Hey all,

Where should I buy my next gun safe from? I've gone to cabelas and gander and a few others but none of them have the real big safe with a combination lock. All electronic, and I don't like that. I'm not trying to start a lock war, I just wanna know good places to buy from. Besides, midwayusa doesn't sell 1000lb safes so I need pointers haha.

What's your target price point? What (if any) fire rating are you looking for?

The ones I was looking at were $2500 before delivery, but now that I'm having trouble finding one, 3-3500 is probably reasonable. Honestly fire rating isn't as big a deal as something that will be harder to break into

I've been to the guy in rogers, and I want to buy from him, but I'm looking for nearly the biggest safe I can get, and I remember his prices were pretty high, but I guess I can afford more now.

If someone is alone in your home with a safe and some power-tools, NO safe is going to stop them. Not that I am keeping mine in a sheet-metal box, but there is a point of diminishing returns.

Not advertising there are guns in the house, not making it obvious where they are located, and a safe door with top, side, and bottom retention pins, on a safe that can't be moved/ tipped over. Beyond that, you're looking at something integrated into the structure of the building, or a bank vault.

Might want to rethink the lock thing. The safe I had b4 had combo lock and I rarely used it including not locking up guns I am not using due to the PITA. My current safe is electronic and so much easier to get in and out of that we use it every few days and keep a lot more things in it.

Goalie is certainly right on diminishing returns. If you need one that is really hard to get into due to collector guns etc something in the $10,000 range is Considerably more burglar proof. If not for collector or irreplaceable guns insurance is a better bet than the fancier safes.

I bought the smaller 20"x20"x20" safe from them for my pistols and it is built like a tank.

As said above, it didn't come with the gloss paint and pretty interior, but it is a very solidly built safe.
