My wife got her carry permit a few months ago, and has just been shooting guns we already have on hand while she has been figuring out what she likes and doesn't like. We've been shopping around lately and she had decided on what she wanted to get. After some internet research, comparing prices, etc, she found the best price at Gander Mountain. That's right, I said gander mountain. I called to store to see if they actually had it in stock, and was on hold for 10 minutes with the gun counter before hanging up. It's only 20 minutes away, so we decided to just drive over. On the way there, I warned her what she might expect from GM staff, based on my previous personal experiences. When we got there, I have to admit that I couldn't really have been happier with how everything went. They had the pistol in stock for the advertised price, and the whole process went through without any hassle of any sort. The sales guy was friendly and knowledgeable, and treated my wife very well. I was impressed. Many of the other guns that I looked at were definitely priced high, but for whatever reason, the one she wanted was priced better than any deal we could find online, even before before factoring shipping and transfer fees.
Anyways, thought it was worth mentioning as it is the first good experience I've had there in some years. In fact, I really don't even go in there anymore, and wouldn't have tonight if we hadn't found the pistol on their web page. And before Seismic Sam chimes in, no, I am not an employee or shill for GM.
