Resting a rifle on the hood.

Not funny, but sometimes people forget where the barrel is relative to the sights on an ar.

Just what the world needs, another "operator".

Suppose he's, "the only one professional enough"?
I will never apologize for being an American.

My first time out shooting pdogs, my brother in law was standing in the bed of his f350 resting his rifle (using a front bag) on the cab roof. I should dig up the early photos that show his antenna intact... while later photos show it shorter.

I laughed then and now at that video. I am glad no one was hurt and no serious damage was done.

My 1975 Chevy Truck had a chrome rib down the middle of the hood.
A friend made it a two-piece rib with a 22LR rifle. He also paid to have a new one installed.

A good bipod with spiked feet will avoid that sort of thing... :?

In the early 90's I worked for a large GM dealer. We got a wrecker call to a local hunting area to get a disabled pickup.
Seems it started raining and this guy tossed his shotgun in the seat and followed it with the dog.

The dog got the trigger and put a round of shot through the radio. It cut the main wiring harness, trashed the radio, a good part of the dash and the computer module.
Would not want to be him explaining that one to his wife...

That's not some anonymous "operator" wannabe - that's Sootch00. I watch the whole video, but now I can't find it. He posted it himself last week and not was on his channel.

Proof that not every 'operator' knows what they are doing. Watch a few of his videos, half the time he is pitching some product or telling you how to use and AR15 for home defense. Not impressed - still an idiot for not know where is muzzle was and not realizing what would happen. The tactical-cool game playing will get you every time.

Is there a downside to this?

I destroyed the window sill of a deer stand in a similar fashion. I was wondering what the "snow" was in the scope after I pulled the trigger. The deer dropped and 3 minutes later after I put the rifle down to figure out what happened, the deer got up and ran away. 2 days later the deer was shot by another person in our party who noticed the wound on the very top of the shoulder. I may or may not have once upon a time zinged two rounds through the roof rack of a 1984 Volvo station wagon while shooting a coyote.

He didn't seem terribly upset. I understand some people actually make money on youtube.

Over penetration, or miss. That round is going on to the next thing, which might be a good long distance way and something you did not see in the flight path. Also not very easy to handle in close quarters, requiring 2 hands to run effectively. Time on target in most cases is slower and ability to stop an advance at 20 feet and under with a single round is less than with many other options.

In terms of practicality and effectiveness in most cases a pistol (large and expanding bullets) is preferred, then very short barreled shotgun(buck shot) , last a rifle.

Folk are watching way to many movies if they really think an AR is the best tool for close work with uncertain backstops.

Lastly, you are most likely going to court if you use it. Totally bias on the side of juries, but I'd rather defend the use of a pistol over and AR for protection any day.
