On MN Responsible Gun Owners FB page someone else started a thread about do you carry anything to assist should you or someone you are shooting with sustains a GSW. Yes, I know its unlikely but what do you do? It's an even bigger question if you instruct students of any level.
As some of you know, I'm an 11 year NRA Instructor and a 2 1/2 year USCCA Instructor & Training Counselor and happened co found Twin Cities IDPA, now Twin Cities Action Shooting. Fortunately we have trained over 1,6000 with just one heart attack, a PE (me) and some basic cuts, bee stings and and twisted ankle. I survived and so did the person who had the cardiac issue.
I also host local and national experts and am proud to be certified as a Staff Instructor by Massad Ayoob and John Farnam. Farnam teaches an 8hr class called Tactical Treatment of Gun Shot Wounds. John has , in consultation with national experts, put together a fairly complete major Trauma kit, Quik Clot, IBD, and other specialized trauma gear. I'll find out who makes the kit for him and post a link. But having the kit and no training is like giving me guitar, I can't do much with it, zero musical training or practice.
Want training John Farnam offers his Tactical Treatment of GSW in Monticello on July 22nd for $400, which includes his full trauma kit that retails for like $150. Details on my website at http://www.mnguntrain.com/john-farnam-2016-tactical.../. My fellow Farnam instructor Erik Pakieser offers a similar class thru his QSI Training company.
We already have 7 people in this class and John is assisted by China King, who works full time ans an EMT. She raves about the class, see my website or speak to anyone who was at the Bang Ping this past Saturday.
