They are not friendly in that store, the OP said so himself. I experienced their unfriendliness firsthand. Plus, they are misleading and willing to to turn you over. So therefore they are crooks, crooked/crooks, whatever.

when you work at a store, part of your job used to be to treat potential customers well

so if this guy didn't see the sign and asked for a 'minute'...they shoulda said no, we have handicapped clients that need that spot. not nothing to him and call the cops, at least they said it audibly  . I'm not official but having had a chainsaw deep wiithin my ankle I can appreciate what even one foot(distance-haha!) means as far as inconvenience/pain

Always two sides to the story. Bottom line is that handicap parking spots are for those properly certified. You have a choice with any business, your fist priority should be to hire people who are qualified, competent and know what they are talking about. Second they should be pleasant and represent your brand/company well. Given the subject matter, I wonder how many people qualify on both points. You did something wrong, did the clerk explain to you how they were feeling and consider your busy schedule so they can decide if really, deep down, you are really a good person - no. But your expectations are misguided. If you want bubbly happy and totally customer service oriented, I'd suggest a fast food restaurant - I can almost guarantee that same employee won't know **** about guns or reloading. I'll take competent over cheery.

I'll bite. Nothing pisses me off more that to see a car pull up to a handicapped space and see some slob whose only handicap is being fat and lazy get out. I once saw a guy pull into a handicapped spot and get out of a Porsche. Those things aren't easy to get in or out of. Fatties on scooters rub me the wrong way Especially when they run into me or tell me to get out of the way when they are shopping at Wal-Mart.

Okay...my two cents...situational awareness. You pull into the parking lot with several spots available, claim that you didn't see or read the various signs out front. Why not? You sound like the kind of guy that cuts in front of me on the freeway from the laft lane to make that exit we're almost past because you "didn't read the signs" saying that exit was coming up. PAY ATTENTION! Oh yeah, please let me know when you decide to go shooting at the range....I wouldn't want to be in the next lane when you sweep the range with your loaded gun because you "didn't have time to read the sigms". Ok, rant over.

As much as I am angered by lazy ******** that steal handicap spots, it looks like this one is not clearly marked. I've never been there so I looked on google street view and they have it posted in their window, not on the parking spot. I'm not even sure that's legal. (see attached image) If this exchange of words went down as described, the GS employee was either being a jackass or trying his hand at humor but I wasn't there.

Have my doubts that meet requirements. Especially since it looks just like a normal spot with no extra clearances and is badly in need of new paint. Also the ADA says the sign should be mounted 5 feet high (measured to the bottom of the sign) which that is not. Given there is a normal size spot next to it which looks marked out but hard to tell with the fading paint I'm guessing at one point someone called them out on not having it and they simply threw up a sign and painted out the space next to it.

The few interactions I've had with the employees on the gun side have by no means been fantastic so to be honest I rarely wonder over to that side when I go in for reloading supplies.

I have been there many times. I have never parked in the handicapped spot. Nor was I ever confused as to which spot that is.

What is it with this site? Are we supposed to go around hating gun stores now? Gunstop is one of the most cost effective places to buy a gun. Trust me I check everytime. Now not everytime are they the cheapest but often. Larry also is really good as tracking down harder to find pieces, will always take a call and look for something for you, and get back to you. So not sure why we all are supposed to bash this store because someone who obviously was careless, parked in a handicapped spot, instead of owning up to the mistake went on the interweb to blame it on anyone but himself. Classy.

As the OP, I ask the moderators to lock up this thread.

Facts as of now, whatever happened, it was the seller who mislead me. Let's not discuss Gunstop.

So they do sell firearms? I'm asking because I'm shopping right now for a particular rifle and I just looked on their website and they don't even mention selling firearms. (unless I'm just not seeing it?) I was wondering if they only sell reloading supplies and ammo. If they are a dealer, I'll have to call and get a quote.

EDIT: yes this is a serious question, I'm not being a smartass. I've never been there and only hear about them selling reloading supplies

Lesson learned, moving on

Postby gun_fan111v2 on Mon Aug 01, 2016 10:30 am

It is a strange setup but there are two business in that one location. Gunstop is the main business that sells reloading and cleaning supplies and has their name on the sign. The other is a firearm selling business of an unknown name. Both sides have good prices and decent selection.

Would be curious to hear how this whole thing started with the original firearm sales owner - maybe two good friends...

Both named Gunstop.

Yes there are 2 separate businesses operating within. One is the reloading guru who handles that side and the other a traditional gun shop. 2 separate counters. If you call their main number there are options to reach each. Call them and they will quote you a price over the phone.
