ATF Reclassifies Wetted Nitrocellulose as Explosive Material

Not sure exactly what this means but I think our reloading powder is affected. Another sneaky Obama move!

According to this "At the point the nitrocellulose is incorporated into smokeless powder or a complete round of ammunition, it is exempt from the requirements of the record keeping, storage, and other requirements of federal law and regulations." it will not affect us and our possession or use, of smokeless powder. It will, however, affect the manufacturers of smokeless powder, which could start another powder shortage

I'm guessing that El Presidente has found another way to try and stop us from being able to make our own ammo.

There are only two powder manufacturers in the US...both produce their own nitrocellulose onsite. They're well versed in explosive storage requirements already.

Might be additional costs for storage requirements and some additional logging in and out - but supply impacts should be minimal.

Nitrocellulose IS used in the coatings industry for laquers though - I predict MUCH bigger impact there.
Nothing to see here. Continue swimming.

Lets hope the lowlifes clarify this. But in the mean time, suggest load up on powder just in case! Just wish I could find H4350.

It's amazing how the ATF decides to go off on a tangent, then have to take a step backwards and rethink their decision. With the amount of tax money they operate on, I would expect at least some thought, before they act. I guess that would require some fore-thought, which has never been their best attribute! :busy:

Forethought has never been an attribute of the .GOV. The "inside the beltway" crowd is so checked out from reality, it absolutely boggles the mind.

Case in point: A week ago, I received an email from SSA. On July 30 of this year, they instituted a new sign-in policy for accessing your account information online, by requiring you to enter a one-time code sent via text message. Less than a month later, they had to roll back that policy because none of the mental giants in Washington stopped to think for one second that NOT EVERYONE IN THE COUNTRY HAS A CELL PHONE (especially those most likely to be drawing Social Security)!

This is our tax dollars at work y'all.

A couple months back, I got a letter from the SSA saying they were changing the system at the end of July, detailing what you mentioned. In that letter, they indicated an alternate process was available for people that did not have cell phone texting. So...while I am not defending the .gov (I don't like them), they did have a plan in place for people falling into that scenario. I too recently received the same letter you mentioned indicating things were being put on hold. I don't recall it actually giving a specific reason as to why.
