Gun store robbery in Rogers

Be on the lookout for stolen firearms and suppressors taken from Guns & Gear in Rogers recently. Apparently "high end .45s" were taken, which probably means top-shelf 1911s.

http://kstp.com/news/rogers-gun-store-burglary-guns-and-gear/4340492/

Rogers police say the suspect targeted high-end .45 caliber semi-automatic pistols and silencers after breaking a front window to get into The Guns and Gear Store at 21135 Diamond Lake Road South. The burglary happened about 11:44 p.m. Wednesday.

A law enforcement source tells KSTP 10 guns and 11 silencers were stolen. Rogers Police Chief Jeff Beahen tells 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS that around $14,000 worth of merchandise was stolen from the gun shop.

What I find inconsistent in the story is the comments regarding "high end .45s" and suppressors but then only being worth $14,000. If the pistols are high-end they should be well over a grand apiece, and suppressors are in that ballpark too, aren't they? This should be $25k of stuff or more.

I don't recall ever seeing anything "high end" there.

I seem to remember the nicest 1911's being Springfield armory operators and a few colts. I don't recall anything over the $1,400 mark, but I could be mistaken. That's too bad though. Sure hate seeing businesses robbed.

Damn. What I hate most about this is the likelihood that these suppressors are going to be used in crimes. Until now, that's been a complete non issue.

Why is the video so crappy in most stores?
Maybe they should put silencers in a safe after hours.

Maybe they should have more security than a pane of glass like most other gun stores.

Agreed, based on the video it looks like amateur hour for security. I can't imagine their insurance company would have accepted that setup.

The show cases should have some after hour protection to. like Steel doors all around locking it-- Something, guy just slid the door open.
And bars on the windows at least

It won't be easy for those thieves to get stamps for those suppressors ;)

I'd say high end 1911's are minimum $2,000. Suppressors probably average $600 depending on caliber.

It's pretty stupid to steal anything but it's monumentally stupid to steal NFA items.

Suppressors should be in a vault/safe during non-business hours.

I agree with you, Ghost.

Saw a snippet of the video and it's interesting that the thief knew exactly where to go and seemed to know that the cases were unlocked - no hesitation to check and see if they were locked, just slid them open. Also managed to hide his/her face from every camera angle, as if they knew where the cameras were. Skipped over a lot of guns to get the ones which were stolen. The thief obviously knew the store, and I hope that gives authorities a short enough list of suspects that the person is brought to face the music relatively quickly.

They were robbed - looked to me like it was after hours, so I assumed they were BURGLARIZED!

Or potentially inside by current employee for insurance claim on product that was not moving? I've seen a few failing restaurants have kitchen fires at very convenient times.

More likely a customer familiar with the store. I'd like to think gun store employees are smart enough, or at least know enough, not to mess around with stolen NFA items. The thief is probably looking at about 200 years in prison just for the cans.
