Broken extractor

So it turns out that all these years no one ever told me that hand-chambering rounds is bad for your extractor, and to always load rounds from the magazine, then top up the magazione. We'll see what this sets me back...

Shoot, we did that all the time when I was a PMI on the rifle range in the military. Never had an issue.

Been there with a custom Kimber. Not being the original owner I saw huge dollar sign when sending it in. They returned it repaired and no charge so all I paid was shipping UPS ground with their suggested labeling. BTW when you get something back from them the return says it's from Elvis. not Kimber

Hey Lumpy, in general loading a round directly into the chamber is bad for the extractor. Try to always load from the magazine and then top off the mag afterwards if you wish.

That shouldn't be too hard to replace and several places show them for sale online. Could be worse. Good luck and let us know if there are any issues with getting it up and running again.

I get controlled round feed rifles but push fed is done all the time with no issues. And Autoshotguns, we do this for thousands of rounds for trap, never seen an issue.

Exactly. CRF rifles and internal extractor 1911s are definitely a different issue. M700 Remington? No way that extractor grabs the rim any differently when fed from the mag or dropped in the chamber. It snaps over when the bolt is closed either way.

Interdasting. I have a 92FS and the manual has a section ("Direct Chamber Loading") that specifically describes how to load a round directly into the chamber through the ejection port.

Just did a quick interweb search, and the 90-TWO's manual also has a similar section (page 69 of the PDF file here).

You could have paid a lot less . If the 90-TWO's extractor is identical to the one on the 92FS, it can be removed and replaced in under a minute with just a hammer and a 1/16" pin punch. I remove the extractor on my 92FS after every range session to clean out the crud under claw.

I'm not sure what that's saying to do; "Insert the round in the chamber through the ejection port"- isn't that what I was doing?
