One of the reasons they are increasing membership is to have more man hours available for public range days. Like you said adds to our bottom line.
There are indeed quite a few opportunities for service hours beyond range duty.
I am going to look at working the Washington County Fair this year.

The fair can be interesting.
Be aware that to work the front/ P R table, one must take an orientation class, and buy a shirt.
For the rear, I believe they still hold to the MN DNR FAS Instructor requirement, even though it's now essentially a video game.

Wonder if they ever got me on the list.

My understanding is that anything past July is still in a holding pattern.

From the April Newsletter:
Notes From the VP April 2018
An e‐blast last week announced the manual scheduling of duty
hours for the first to months of the shooƟng season. Within 24
hours I received and responded to 215 email requests. The
results are published in this bullet‐in. If you were not
scheduled, there will be another opportunity to schedule the
remainder of the year when the modified web site comes on
line shortly, An e‐blast will announce the opening of online
scheduling.

That's a fine idea. Wish I'd thought of it. When the newsletters come out after schedules are released, the newsletters don't do much good, and I never got an e-blast about anything.hard h2o wrote:Most of this information is there if people would just read their newsletters and emails.

As far as other opportunities go, I don't waste my time anymore with anything other than the minimum range duty. I've volunteered too many times and had the leader of the work crew (whatever it may be, County Fair, Clean-up, you name it) act Like they were doing me a favor by letting me work for them. I showed up one year for fair setup at the time I was told to be there, work was pretty much done and all I got was a hard time from the leader. So, forget them. I'll do my range duty and that's it. But, when I can't even schedule that, it's time to find something better. If this silly game of secret scheduling continues much longer, they won't have to worry about needing volunteers, they'll need to worry about finding anyone, period.
Oh, and forget contacting anyone about this problem, either. I got one email from the GM (Teresa), told me to contact the VP, Tom Mader. Too bad the email address doesn't work. And now, Teresa doesn't answer me either.
