The low end for their full size is like $750 so not too bad.

So at that point why not a springfield gi model for 500? About as solid a no frills 1911 one can get.

If the OP was willing to go up a few bucks, there is a great deal on Gunbroker for a STI Race Gun...

If I didn't have all my funds tied up in long range shooting, I'd jump on this one

https://www.gunbroker.com/item/773195622

Another STI .45 ACP listed with current bid of $560 https://www.gunbroker.com/item/772288185

I found this in the for sale. Reviews online are good. Any thoughts?

Para is now owned by Remington I believe. I have had no issues with the one I have.

I have 3 Para's, my EDC for the past few years has been my P13-45, which replaced my TRP PRO. It has run around 50-100 rounds per week for the past 4-5 years without a flaw. The other two are just as good - another 13-45 and a 14-45 comp gun.

I would grab that one listed for sale - even if it isn't a double stack................... :P

Good to hear some first hand experience, as the internet "wizdom" will tell you only older Canada produced Para's are any good :)

I have to say, I really like the looks of these - checkering for $650! Isn't the finish melonite too?

I wouldn’t say the old paras are better than the new... I have 2 P14-45’s that the holes don’t line up. Purchased them when I thought they would be good IPSC guns... Why I recommend folks try games before they buy the equipment now.

Also, they don’t fit guys without huge hands.

Both are safe queens that break slide stops reliably every 2-300 rounds.

Para would do nothing.

If you want high cap 1911’s, the STI or the infinity are the way to go, but more money...

Both of them break slide stops?

Holes don't line up - as in barrel to holes in paper?

If they are crap and broken why do you still have them?

If they are indeed taking up valuable storage space - I would be willing to buy them as a package............. ;)

Hammar,

the one I sent in has a misalignment of the slide stop pin hole, its sits crooked, and thus breaks. My memory was that both were equally bad. Went and looked at my records. I stand corrected, one is known bad, the other, maybe.

I don't sell much of any guns. Only sold one in my life, and regretted it ever since, mainly because it became a fairly rare item (a colt .22 automatic.)

I will make an exception, you want the one that breaks slide stops and has a known issue with the pin holes lining up, you can have them for what I paid for it... I believe the P14-45 went for about $1K, back in the day (hi cap ban, it came with one and a certificate for a second.) per my records I paid $1099 plus tax $99 for each extra mag you want. The second one the rear sight fell out. That was an easy fix if I ever decide I need a hicap .45, it also broke a couple slide stops, but I haven't had it looked at, so you may be right that it isn't bad. I brought an SVI in 10mm for that game, and haven't bothered with the Paras in 20+ years except to clean them every couple years.

I don't need the money, so I ain't doing discounts...

;)
