Opinion on LaRue Tactical QD Mount for EOTech

Postby FirearmFan on Tue Jan 13, 2009 3:16 pm

Finally thinkin about getting around to buying an EOTech for my AR. Was wondering if anybody has any experience with the QD mount from LaRue Tactical. Here's the link http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactic ... .bok?no=33 It appears to be just what i'm looking for but thought I'd check here first. Basically I'm wondering how much of a difference it actually makes because I don't really want the front sight getting in the way. Also I'm open to other better alternatives. Thanks

That's actually pretty cool!

I put an EOTech on top on an M4 clone, and ended up removing the front sight because it was so irritating. (Settle down, Gunny...)

I find that I don't even see the front sight post when using an optic, even if it's in the middle of the window. I naturally pick up the dot or reticle. You might as well. I'd buy the optic first, and add the mount later if you think the post gets in your way.

You could opt for the folding front sight post. There are a few companies, A.R.M.S. & Knights Armament that come to mind right away that make front sights that replace your FSB with a folding FSB. Or you could go the opposite direction and replace your FSB with a low profile gas block and install a flip up sight on your top rail.

I have an Aimpont CompM2 on my AR, and I don't even notice the FSB anymore in the optic, it really don't even affect it at all.

I might just do that. I wanted to buy them both together because it's cheaper that way than buying them both separate. However, I just found a website where I get them separate for only about 15 bucks more than the combo. That way I can buy the EOTech first and see how I like it.

I have a LaRue QD mount on my Bushy. I use it with the Po' Boy setup they sell. I have it mounted behind a GG&G mounted EoTech. It's at least the quality of the GG&G stuff.
