1. The country of Mexico is suing U.S. gun manufacturers for contributing to 'gun violence' in their country.
2. Minnesota (among 12 other states) has chimed in supporting the Mexican lawsuit as an 'Amici' state.
So....
Anybody here with some legal knowledge that could tell me how much effort went on in the Minnesota AG office to make Minnesota an 'Amici' state to this lawsuit? I mean, was it just Keith Ellison saying it was a good idea and hitting a form with a rubber stamp and mailing it off? Did MN have to file forms and forms of paperwork with somebody to get it done? Was research done or was a simple reading of the lawsuit enough for MN AG office to approve this?
What I"m trying to figure out is how much time and money did we (MN taxpayers) pay to become an 'Amici' state for this lawsuit.
Did Governor Tim Walz approve? Was he REQUIRED to approve or is this something the state attorney general (Keith Ellison) can do on his own?
P.S. I'm against it no matter how much it cost, but REALLY irritated if much effort/time/money was spent doing this.
