An interesting story from an Airport Van Driver

Heard this from a van driver who was taking me from MSP to TEAM parking over at Shepard and Davern when I cam back from Burbank last week: (Note: I have NEVER had to wait more than 90 seconds in the lot OR airport to get picked up by these people!!) At any rate, he said that at some point the light rail system had gone down so that you at least couldn't ride to the Mall of America, and during that period the crime rate at the MOA had dropped NINETY percent. (!!!!!!) (HF!!!)

Well, I thought that one of the prerequisites of being a van driver at the airport was you had to have passed all of the actuarial exams. (I shouldn't joke, I bet a bunch of those guys will be fighting for van driving jobs pretty soon based on their lousy projections of stock market returns for pension funds).

I was at the MOM last week with my wife and a large group of "Urban Youth" was walking behind us. When we stopped to look at a window display one of the guys bumped into me pretty hard and just kept walking, I guess I was in his way. So I just looked at him like he was a dumbass and after about 12 twelve steps he stopped and gave me a "hard" look. It was a Mexican standoff, in Bloomington, the worst possible place. Anyway, I was feeling indignant and refused to break eye contact so he eventually turned around and kept walking.

Not exactly intense, but also not a rare thing at the MOM.

It made my wife pretty nervous, but I had them surrounded.

I must assume from these writings that most, if not all the posters are middle class, Caucasian males. I must further assume that many of you fear, and or dislike people who are "urbanites".

I have been noticing an abundance of veiled racism on this web site. Thankfully, only a few participate in this ignorant behavior.
I have seen, and even experienced the scenarios described in this topic. The actions of a few can bring discredit to all.

The crime rate in the downtowns, and MOA declined during the bus strike. The mayor of Minneapolis, and media were very quiet about the statistical information. What were they going to say that would help?

I am unable to offer a solution to the rude, aggressive, sometimes criminal behavior that a few of the "urbanites" indulge.
Most of the posters here, are responsible, model citizens.
Our veiled, and sometimes outright racist behavior, is only making an ugly situation worse.

I am asking all of you not to publish ignorance in this public website.

Racism is wrong in any form. Perhaps we should play by all the rules. Again, the misdeeds of few, will bring discredit upon all.
