I feel a bit of optimism! Tempered with expectation that the Republican congress will screw it up or at least not take advantage of the momentum. It is time to put the pressure on congress.

Rumor on X is that Kash Patel will also be the ATF director.

He is the new director of the FBI as of February 20. Trump will probably direct him to purge the ranks of any agent associated or remotely associated with the J6 investigations or any investigations into Trump's activities. It will most likely not matter how loyal they were to the country or to Trump in the past.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kash_Patel
Two days before Patel's Senate confirmation hearing, twenty-three former Republican officials released a letter stating that his confirmation would be "a grievous mistake that would endanger the FBI's integrity and compromise its critical mission" because he is "motivated by revenge" and "has repeatedly vowed to go after individuals on perceived enemies lists. This is a vision of the FBI as an authoritarian weapon for pursuing his and Trump's grievances". The signatories included many Justice Department officials from four Republican administrations dating to Nixon. Ty Cobb, a former Trump White House attorney who signed the letter, said Patel "is not qualified remotely by character or experience" to be FBI director and he is "somebody who is a real danger to democracy and certainly a dagger in the heart of the FBI.

Trump's EO; https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential ... nt-rights/

I think Trump does not really believe that the 2A is a safeguard of security and liberty. If he did, then he would not have had a gun grab, proposed gun confiscation without due process or suggested raising the age to buy guns.

Why not have the AG review actions from 2017 to 2025? What is Trump afraid that Bondi will find? Will Trump take any action on the 2006 Bush bump stock ban? Probably not.

No **** Sherlock. I watched the Senate vote. Note, I said 'also'. But I don't know if that it will be the case, the X post was deleted.

I applaud Patel's confirmation.

Why would you think that any rumor addressing a possible appointment of the director of the FBI to the ATF position was worth addressing here?

I did not mean to trigger you so badly. :)

You're being evasive, sherlock. Why would you think that any rumor addressing a possible appointment of the director of the FBI to the ATF position was worth addressing here?

Edited to add;

Kash Patel tells FBI staff to ignore Elon Musk’s productivity email as signs of power struggles emerge in D.C.: reports
https://www.yahoo.com/news/kash-patel-t ... 57318.html
“FBI personnel may have received an email from OPM requesting information. The FBI, through the Office of the Director, is in charge of all of our review processes and will conduct reviews in accordance with FBI procedures,” Patel wrote, according to an NBC report.

“When and if further information is required, we will coordinate the responses. For now, please pause any responses.”

As unqualified as he may be for director of the FBI, as least Patel is not rolling over and playing dead for Trump.

Hope Patel in charge of the ATF doesn't get worst than it it is now. Guess we will see soon enough.

Well, the rumors were true! https://apnews.com/article/fbi-director ... 4bf46ad876

Just an acting director though. Obama had an acting director for over two years at one time. I wonder how long Patel will be in this position?

Well, part of the ATF is on the ball...

Got a suppressor approved in less than 24 hours after getting the eforms done.

Got to give them their due when they do their jobs... even if it might well be better that the job shouldn't include that.

That is impressive on their part.
Was this recent...like post-election recent?
